belt driven has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
The existing DP engine packages(Ford/GM/BMW) were proven reliable. I might be biased by my 25 years as a former auto tech/mechanic; but if you told me I had to switch to a Ford V6 w/twin turbos I’d probably b**** loudly, too.

Unsurprisingly, after the events at Daytona, GAINSCO have pulled their NAEC entry and will not race any longer this season.

http://sportscar365.com/imsa/tusc/ga...f-2014-season/

The more worrying thing in that press release is not just that they released the drivers, they released their whole crew to look out for other opportunities. So having the team back in 2015 is looking rather unlikely.

I'd guess SpeedSource will be interviewing some of the ex-Gainsco personnel:

The next alternate entries in the P class are 8Star Motorsports Corvette DP, followed by Project Libra's Radical. It will be interesting to see if either will enter the Sebring 12 hrs next month, or later races. Of course with the Sebring entry being maxed out at 68 entries anyway, even without GAINSCO being entered, it would seem unlikely that either would enter without a guaranteed start!

I noticed today that the SCHEDULE link on imsa.com has Race Duration listed as TBD for all races outside the NAEC. Surely they have these lengths determined, right?

Rolex 24 at Daytona GT Daytona class winners Level 5 Motorsports are set to exit the Tudor United SportsCar Championship after a memorable result at Round 1.

Marshall Pruett reported earlier this evening on Racer.com that the team will not compete at next month’s Twelve Hours of Sebring, and is expected to formalize their departure from the Tudor Championship this week.

Very very strange....the fact that they are leaving the series and yet evaluating the possibility of entering the Pirelli World Challenge or even a switch to P2, leads me to believe that they are for whatever reason, dissatisfied in the class of which they are competing in i.e. GTD....?

That could well be. There’s certainly a lot going on here that we don’t know about yet.

And on a related note, if Townsend Bell and Bill Sweedler indeed do end up at a revived Aim Autosport, can Aim be ready in time for Sebring?

Doesn't look like Scott enjoyed fielding cars for other people or driving in GTD.

Also Honda wants them to test their new engine(NSX) this year for them and the team boss doesn't like how Nascar is running the series. He doesn't want to be one of the lab rats for NASCAR(rules late and changing rules on the fly) the first year and they have the best pit set-up in sports cars and NASCAR will not give them no room to put it up.

Thanks for the info.

I understand the former reasons, but the paddock space is a lame excuse and giggled when I read about it in the article.rich man can't set up up his racing cathedral in the paddock so he pulls out...poor him

Well that sucks, I always liked their black cars and was looking forward to seeing them this year.oh well, best of luck to sweedler and bell hope they can get aim setup in time for sebring.

...or perhaps, as one of the comments made by Stone, they didn't have enough paddock space to run their GTD cars, and the number of customer cars they were planning. Maybe TUSC considered L5 "one team" no matter the number of race cars? We don't really know that it had anything to do with Tuckers "cathedral."

Had a look at the latest Sebring entry list and the Aston Martin GTLM car isn’t on the list anymore.

You can view the list here.

Still has L5 on it, but not AIM. It will be interesting to see when it is fully updated. Thx for the info on the Aston though.

So we're effectively down to 66 entries (68 -/- AM and 2x L5 but + AIM).

Any signs of possible replacements?

Focusing on the paddock space issue means people are missing the point Level 5 is making ... the team is displeased with IMSA to the point that they have left the series. The question not answered is if Level 5 has also withdrawn their GT3 Cup and Prototype Lites entries. There are other comments by David Stone in that article, e.g. team owners won't take a stand against IMSA, that are a lot more important than the paddock space issue.

At some point, as an owner/manager, it becomes easier to deal with NOT racing, than to put up with the headaches OF racing. Especially when self funded.

It's NASCAR's series to ruin, they've started with a bang...

There's still well over 60 cars out there and I expect that number will go down. Honestly, in this case, I'm having a hard time caring.

If AMR doesn't come back, that's a bummer.

Agreed because GTLM would have had all 6 GTE manufactures that exist on the planet right now at Sebring too. Not even Le Mans can say that since the BMW Z4's don't run there right now.

Aston hasn't confirmed they are not racing. That entry list isn't fully up to date so you may yet see them. If they stick with bop from Daytona, Porsche will just walk away with the race.
