Autosport Mag's saying that by combining the BF3 and Euro Championship fields, there's a grid of 25 signed up for Pau ! That's excellent news and as some of us have been saying, maybe the future is in unification of some or all of these series.

Here's the official preview from the British F3 website. It should be an excellent meeting, but I anticipate some damage. There was back in 2005, when I was there, and there has been during the WTCC visits.

I wonder what he means about 'making the price right for drivers' within the context of new regulations... because cost is by far and away the biggest issue in current FIA regs.

Note SROs proposal is for the FIA European title which is not the same thing as the Euroseries, which is expected to continue with DTM and the old engines from MB and VW.

Yes, but if it does happen, I can't see how the Euro series could continue in anything other than a shadow of what it is now... and that's not all that great. Maybe it will revert to being the German F3 championship and follow the DTM ?

They should do three races in the UK (Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington), three in Germany (Nürburgring, Hockenheim and Norisring), and then one or two in Benelux (Spa, Zandvoort), France (Paul Ricard, Le Mans, Magny Cours, Pau), Italy (Monza, Mugello, Imola) and Central Europe (Brno, Slovakia, Zeltweg).
That way, both SRO and ITM get a few local races, and long travels are reduced. |

Oh, you mean that UK and Germany shouldn't have three races each? I think yes they need them. It's a way to attract media and sponsors from the largest markets. also, since most teams are from those countries, they will like to have a few short trips.

A couple of rounds at each of the main countries top grade circuits would suffice.
It doesn't need to be a 57 round championship! |

So SRO is trying to find a reason to race in Europe, that's all what it's about. Anyway, which are the six tuners confirmed for 2013? Neil Brown is one, I assume Three Bond the other, who else?

SRO are only doing what the drivers want and therefore the teams want as well.
F3 is a professional series and therefore the teams are businesses, if your customers want to race on high class circuits with live TV thats what you must do. For the amateur drivers the MSVF3 cup is available. Well done SRO for getting on with the job and publishing a calendar so that teams and drivers can plan for a strong future for F3. |

Whilst, not overjoyed about having to visit the 3 MSV circuits, I feel that the proposed schedule is the best possible in the circumstances, let us hope that SRO allow the calendar to develop over the next few seasons, with some stability of venue and date.
Events become stronger if they take place on a similar date every year. It was obvious at Spa over the weekend that many of the spectators were there because it was an 'event' with a great atmosphere, irrespective of what was happening on the track. The race was well promoted and there was a varied range of activities off track to make the event worth visiting for people even if they aren't hard core racing enthusiasts. Announcing the schedule early helps teams with their planning and allows them to offer attractive packages to their drivers and sponsors. |

If the European and British F3 series join together. The suggestion seems too be that 2/3 or 3/4 or more of the meetings would be in Europe.
Great news for the European teams who should be well pleased with that deal. British teams paying for all that extra cross channel transportation should do wonders for teams costs and budgets. Would they not be forced in to fully retrieving all that extra European VAT if the bulk of their season was outside the UK? Surely there are enough money woes in British F3 and teams struggling to find drivers with budgets. Or may be drivers will be falling over themselves t grab a 800k drive in 2013 to be with a British team racing mainly European circuits |

It does NOT cost £800,000 to drive in British F3
Standard budget £550,000 for full season. Yes if you want extras like winter testing ,no insurance excess, simulator programes etc then the budget will be slightly higher. National Class is approx 40% less so please stop giving false information. |
