i can't see how putting both of these series on the same track in the same weekend would make any difference in the long run except to further alienate the series' diehard fans from each other. a short term finacial burden MAY be eased as we watch GT cars from IMSA run similar lap times as the NASCAR prototypes.

bob, i don't recall when IMSA/SCCA "exchanged" cars (prototypes CanAm days?), but they aren't talking "exchanges" here, right? AND, because they still share weekends, IMSA and SCCA seem to have good rapport with each other, which i don't think is the case with IMSA and NASCAR.

i could be wrong.

Really, I'd think the wine glasses and bottles thrown on the track in a shared weekend/race would be a serious safety hazard, nevermind the cheese.

It was possible for some class cars to go between the two series, for most of the first twenty years of the IMSA.
