Good point, though I think he would be a bit limited as a spacecraft designer, in spite of his experience at the cutting edge of race car design.

Still maybe it would be a less stressed but still very interesting "retirement" hobby! Mercedes to be run by a committee - oh dear! When did Lewis get the gangsta tatt? |

Since nobody really knows what Ross Brawn is going to do next year, the possibles as I see it are going to Williams, retire, take a year out.
I can't see him moving to Woking but stranger things have happened. However he could be very useful to Porsche, as he would bring current top level racing knowledge, is a good technical manager and has previous experience of top level prototypes. But then Porsche tend to use their own people. |

One person doesnt care that Mr Brawn is leaving Mercedes...
"Mercedes can find better boss than Brawn" - Lewis Hamilton Mr Brawn could probably find a better race driver too, like that bloke that won a bunch of world titles instead of backing into just one... |

Otherwise it would seem unlikely that Lewis would be prepared to win friends and influence people to this degree! Ross probably wasn't a great fan of Rosco turning up at the circuit. |

"There is going to be someone out there who can do the same or better and they just haven't had the chance," added Hamilton. ridiculously sensationalized headline imo. looks like the Virgin Mary to me. it might be a criminal expression of faith but hardly a symbol of criminality. why gold teeth? more likely he will become an underwear model, marry a spice girl, and have tea with the queen no? dont get me wrong i like jokes as much as the next person but unless you put some smiles in there how am i supposed to know its a joke ? |

The media are running with this exaggerated idea that Brawn was essential to Hamilton's arrival and they are now trying to destabilise the Hamilton Mercedes relationship by bating Hamilton over Brawn in order to prolong the story. Hamilton is trying to counter that. He is being very crude about it of course but that's what's happening.

With regards to Ross possibly joining Williams, Sir Frank's comments about not wanting to upset people he employs that is already a team leader, or are team leaders in order to accommodate him was interesting!
Was he referring to Claire or Pat Symonds? |

I'm sure Brawn doesn't have the slightest interest in joining Williams. It would be a ridiculous move. Symonds is the big-wig there anyway.

PS and RB have different skills though and worked together in the past.
I don't think SFW can worry too much about who upsets internally, this is almost the last role of the dice for them and it's fair to say that the team has underperformed relative to resources and experience. The fact that they are changing engines yet again next year only adds to the complete lack of continuity. I'm sure Ross can give them a few pointers on how installation will work best on the new Mercedes engine, should he go there... |

So what roles would you foresee for Brawn and Symonds? And would they work under Claire?

TBH, I think that RB would be more suited to a team that already has a better pedigree of having won more than just the one race in what seems like, forever. |

If Brawn was to go to Williams I could see him as deputy/assistant team principal over the engineering side with Claire Williams on the commercial marketing side.
Do Williams have a design chief at the moment as that appears to be an area they might be weak but it all depends on who is doing what job as every team has different structures. The trick is to get everybody working together in a common direction and that the guys working on a front wing are talking to those who are working with the middle and rear of the car. |

Brawn leaving Mercedes is/was, unfortunately, inevitable. The dream team doesn't usually work, and Mercedes is no exception. Toto Wolff, Paddy Lowe, Bob Bell, Aldo Costa and Geoff Willis working under Ross was not going to be harmonious. Like Hamilton + Alonso '07... only not like that at all.
My guess is he'll go to Honda. |

Accirding to the last paragraph of this Autosport article, it's up in the air as to what he does next.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/111641 "It is not clear what Brawn's long term plans are, nor whether he will retire from F1 completely or return with another team." |
