Hello everyone,

as promised, here are pictures from the '92 DTM-Mercedes of Jacques Laffite, that later became Stig Amthor's car of 1993:

To be honest, I didn't find a picture that good of Laffite's car. This one ist showing the car of Laffite's teammate Jörg van Ommen instead. Laffite's car hat the number 11 and looked similar to Nr. 12. The picture can be found in the book "Tourenwagen Story '92" by Thomas Voigt. Picture is taken at Hockenheim.

Now Laffite's car at Singen, the French getting into trouble while Kris Nissen in his Isert-BMW is having a tête-Ã*-queue in the hairpin (picture taken from the same book):

By the way, van Ommen and Laffite drove for the Mass-Schons-Team (founded 1989), next to AMG and Zakspeed one of the remaining works-Mercedes-teams after Snobeck left the DTM. And yes, former F1-Driver Mass was one of the team-owners.

One of poor quality as I am at war with my office's scanner. This picture (taken from "Tourenwagen Story '93" by Thomas Voigt) shows Stig Amthor's 190E in Hockenheim. The car was entered by the then established "DTM Junior Team", using the 1992 cars. Amthor's teammate with number 20 was Alexander, called "Sandy", Grau, driving a similar 190E with a red instead of a blue back and "Old Spice" as main sponsor. Grau broke his leg just before the season's final in Hockenheim, wer H.-H. Frentzen took a ride in Grau's car.

I'm afraid I have no information about any car that raced in the DTM before 1988. If anyone needs a picture or qualifying- and race results from the DTM and ITC from '88 to '96, feel free to ask me.

Greetings,

Marco.

dtm-archives should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi, i run the site dtm-archives.com, focusing on researching the 190 in DTM, im well acquaintedwith Henrik Rosengren, a collector of DTM mercs. He currently owns 7 of them. Here are few pictures that i have taken of his cars:

Anyway, regarding the 92-49 car, are you sure that it was Lafitte that drove it? My sources states that it was driven by Jörg van Ommen.

Do you have any recent pictures of it?

Avgas should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The experimental department at the factory built a 190E prototype with a very hot turbocharged engine, as an evolution. Out of the box it did more than 300 kph without any fettling, but the board was scared so it did not go into production.

Here is the Japanese 190 - sponsored by Leyton House, and driven by Akira Hagiwara during the 1985 and 1986 JTCC series:
