Yeah, Lopez was untouchable. Amazing that first corner incident didn't create more carnage. Have to ask, though, did it ever become clear what happened to Caceres on the second restart? He seemed quite upset at Fontana, but the cameras didn't pick up the first part of his spin. Too bad, he was very impressive carving his way up through the field, though is rejoin after the spin was very much less so.

Jimmy, I was so focused on trying to take good pictures that I missed the beginning of Cáceres' crash. I remember a dark car (A works Renault? Fontana's blue Ford?) hitting Fufy from behind and making him spin, but it mat well have been the other way round.

Now you can find dozens of pictures at my blog.

Instead of success balasting, leading TC2000 drivers get penalised at the sprint race. Pechito López will start 12 places back to his qualifying time next race at San MartÃ*n, for example. More information here.

Normally there are 2 races: sprint race and main race. This race was short so assume later this afternoon there will be a main race.

EDIT Looks like main race will start in few minutes.

First non-Toyota win for Fontana in TC2000: he said "it's like winning for Boca or River" (Argentina's big two football teams; he refers to Ford and Chevrolet). It's the second race for the Focus II, so that's some good news for the Blue Badge. Juan Manuel Silva (Renault) has retired in both races so far and won't look happy tomorrow night (I'll miss it, Fox shows football instead of Última Vuelta).

I can't find the full race results, but the official website does show the standings after 2 races.

Punta del Este Grand Prix boss said that the TC2000 race is over and wants an international championship instead. The track is dangerous for our weak Formula Chevrolet and the Argentine Formula Renault 1.6, so IndyCar and Superleague are out of the question. The FIA GT1 could be a bit too powerful too. Could it be the WTCC?

TC2000 is having a very promising start of the season. There is no car making important difference on track as it was the deal with Honda previous seasons (even if they have the driver that will still do the difference). We have seen Honda, Toyota, Renault, Ford and Fiat fighting for first places (Chevrolet is near too and will join the battle soon I guess) and races with lots of action.
I record and upload TC2000 races, if you want to get them please let me know and I will send you the links, sorry I cannot post them here.

kobe, are you related to tc2000 somehow?
do you know anything about the mini V6 cup that may support TC2000 next year?

I am just a big TC2000 fan and have been recording all races since 2008 season.

I haven't heard anything regarding a new support series.

I did: the Mini Challenge will join the TC2000 for six races this year. Cars will be much faster and expensive than the Lineas: US$ 4000 per race and 210hp versus $A 10k (US$ 2500) and stock 1.9L naturally-aspirated engines.

For those who want to try the TC2000 with their own hands can try the new TC2000 Racing, the latest installment of the official simulator.

The new BTCC NGTC rules look like TC2000.
IMO TC2000 should keep their current rules.
