2008 chassis specifications

I keep hearing about an FIA crash test specification concerning tube frame chassises for 2008.

Does anybody have any preliminary information about this 2008 FIA specificaton?

From what I last heard nothing is decided yet but in addition to crash testing likely to have anti intrusion panels to protect the driver and likely to be carbon.

How will this effect small manufactures like Ray Spirt and Getem?

Can they afford to give a car away?

No idea....it would appear they haven't decided yet.

Would hope it just means carbon panels and or body work

2008 rules

Cranfield University are doing the research. Spirit, Mygale and Ray have groups working on this. VD are also involved. The Kent and Zetec cars will only be allowed to compete in historic series. As the Duratec engine is lighter, faster, more reliable and cheaper; kits are offered to convert some cars to the new engine. Mygale, VD and Ray already offer such kits.
