Drivers and spectators paid tribute to last year’s classic XR2 champion Martin Ramsay, who died recently. Nick Forsyth drove Martin’s car in both races, fastest on each occasion.
Pete Richards made the long journey north with his Clan Crusader for his first visit to Knockhill. Race one ended on the third lap with Pete having rolled into the chicane gravel trap. Thankfully, he was unhurt. His car did not suffer much damage and he was assisted by other competitors to make it watertight for the journey home on an open trailer. Such was the commitment of all, that this work left the car in race –ready condition. Pete completed race two – hopefully the earlier drama will not put him off returning. Shonny Paterson brought his TR7V8 to Knockhill for the first time in many years. His first time on the reverse direction circuit ended in third place in race one. Unfortunately, mechanical problems ended his second race prematurely. Another returnee was Alex Montgomery, driving Alastair Baptie’s Fiat X1/9. Race one victor was Alastair Baptie, MGBV8, followed by John Kinmond Rover SD1V8, Paterson third. Top two were identically placed in race two, third place going to Bruce Mitchell in a Lotus Europa. Final event is at Knockhill on 6th October. |
