Racepak G2X

I've just fitted a Racepak G2X and cant get the rpm to work properly.

The rpm reading is really noisy, which means the shift lights are permanatly on as it's always hitting a spike. I asked Racepak who said I needed their Tach driver. I brought one and cant any signal from it all.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Join the club. I have never (like most) been able to get the system to work or be stable.

Richard,

I too had erratic tach readings with my G2X. I installed a MSD Pro Mag Tach Converter Part #8132 and it cleaned my tach signal just fine.

Good Luck,

Racepak G2X is a data logging system. The MSD pro mag tach converter cleans up the tach signal to be compatible with today's electronic tachs.

Aha! Of course! I should have known that

So does that mean the Racepak people sell the G2X system as a data logging system that does not work with modern Tacho's? That sounds useful. Or perhaps the system is best suited to Historics.

I use my Racepak as my tachometer, shift light, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge and lap timer. The electronic tach in it needs an electrical tach trigger signal of a certian type sine wave...???(I am not an electrical engineer). I use an Crane XR 3000 optical distributor points repalcement, but even the standard points and coil do not produce the correct signal. I have had similar erractic tach signal problems with my previous SPA electronic tach.
