CFF1600 Croft

This will be by first CFF1600 outing - how many are going along ?

After watching the video of Jon Davis - I am now more nervous than anything - is it necessary to be that wild

Please be kind to me !

Well, sadly my FFord trips are not as often as they once were - but I'll be there too in an orange capacity.

Just as a reminder - offers of cake at lunch do assist with blue flagging

What does Mr Davis mean ??? I am a total Sweetie !!

Anyway my understanding from Jon is that you are a bit tasty behind the wheel Mr Blackcat - "Demon Driver" was the phrase he used....

My latest info suggests 18/19 entries - not too bad !!

How about getting the 'old faithful' DL11 out for a weekend at Brands in June ?

In all seriousness you will find the Classic FF1600 Crowd very friendly and the driving standards are very clean. I am sure you will do well and enjoy the races.

My Van Diemen FA73 should hopefully be coming to Croft accompanied by another one driven by Steve Bradley the 1982 pre 74 Champion. He was going really well last Friday at Snetterton.

I call my car "Vandy" so this new one I will call "Vandys Evil Twin" !!

See you on Saturday.

FA73.

4 laps was the restarted distance over a 6-minute sprint after two cars (I can't remember who and was at the opposite end of the circuit anyway) got into a tangle at the Complex and brought out the reds.

Unfortunately I made an idiot error on lap 1 and spun to the back of the field.

Coming back through the field I caught up with Steve Bradley who was having engine problems in his 73 (Evil Twin !!).

Going into that twisty bit I am certain there was oil down and it caught Steve out - Evil Twin instantly snapped 90 degrees sideways like someone had put on a handbrake and I went into the side of him - the two 73 Van Diemens colliding - what are the odds on that !!!

All a bit of a shame really. I had a really enjoyable race 1 - got very familiar with the back of Amanda Whitakers Elden....!!

Happened in front of me. Fa73 no where to go. Sounded like quite a big bang. Hope not to much damage. Top drive on Saturday though. See you at Brands.

Damage commensurate with the loudness of the bang unfortunately - master cylinders, noseframe, steering arms, at least one wishbone, the nosecone and a sidepod with a small bit of main body damage too...

Nothing Ken and URS cannot sort out though !! I emailed Steve Bradley this morning - he seems ok.

Thanks !! - see you at Brands !!

Actually make that a twisted frame, damaged floor, wrecked top body section, broken cross member where the gearbox is mounted... etc etc

The car had a slightly twisted frame - now more so. So I have decided to bite the bullet and get it straightened properly rather than try and get away with a bodge job. ££££ ouch though !!!!
