Stupid Question Of The Day
Hi
Would anybody know where I might get some brake discs for a 87 Quest FF. I dont think they are bespoke to the car. Any help would be appreciated Thanks |

They may well be (like many of the day) Audi 80.
Best bet is to call Peter Alexander - www.pamotorsport.co.uk |

Actually young Justine I believe these were Ford Escort Discs and calipers.
Quest turned the discs to reduce the weight and also drills some holes in them... |

lol, Mr Dorkins. I emailed a friend of mine who designed and built the Quest. He told me that it was Def a Ford and from his recollection and escort.
But then you would know more than him lol |

Well being Escort discs from '87, finding them should be easy. Quest only skimmed them to lighten them, standard will fit albeit a tad heavier.

Thank you I will check the escort disc out.
Quest had the disc on the inside of the upright not the wheel side and it is fixed with 6 holes. JIM |

Rich - is it possible to get Phil on here to do a quest thread or something and talk about back in the day, people ask q's about designs and stuff, could be cool?

Still cannot find replacement discs, but may be this will help
The rears have a CP Number which is 2366-5. I know this is an AP number but I dont fancy the 115.00 each that I am being quoted to have some made. I understand the same disc was used on Lola's and Van Diemen's when they had the inboard brake set up on the rear. ie six hole fitting. Hope someone can help JIM |

Do EBC Brakes do discs as well? If so, you get a 50% discout if you have a race licence.
I'll go hide again now |

Stating the obvious maybe, but have you tried Ken at Universal Racing.
If he doesn't have them, I'm sure he could knock them up for less than £115 each. |

Allan Staniforth used to run a Quest and set it up for various people after he sold it. He would be worth a try. his was an 87 FF2000 from memory but it's basically the same car. I cannot see a phone number offhand but could dig it out. I had a Quest 87 for a few years some time ago (10 years plus) and have a setting sheet for it but it doesn't give very much. I am still in touch with the guy I sold it too so I could check and see if he has any more - but I doubt it. If you want the setting sheet, PM me your address and I'll post it to you. Hope that this helps.

The disc is a Mk9 inboard brake disc that is simply turned around and used outboard on the upright.
