Dome have not employed the advertising agency.
Therefore, there might not have been offer from a major sponsor.
Their main sponsor(GPH) in 2005 have been caught by the swindle.
So, they might not be trusting minor companies.

That could easily get bigger come race weekend . What is "Takata" anyway ?

Interesting. With Dome doing the Honda NSX SuperGT car, I thought they might be partners in crime on an LMP1.

And the article you linked actually only quotes Nick Wirth as thinking that they (HPD) would be able to design a good LMP1, not that they are actually doing it. Depends on what headquarters say I assume. I would expect them to actually buy the Dome S102 and send it to HPD for further refinement, similar to what they did with the ARX-01. The approach seems to work quite well.

Racing harnesses and other gear - http://www.takataracingproducts.com/

Takata have sponsored the Dome NSX Super GT car for a few years IIRC.

Just an aside - Dome are Honda's works team in Super GT - they make all the NSX's in GT500. They also run the Super Aguri Nippon team and the works Honda F3 outfit. Dome is a super rich firm, and this is probably a demonstration of thier abilities to show that if a manufacturer wants to come in then Dome should be your partner.

I know Wirth is working on a new P1, but its just on the computer screen at the moment. But don't rule out Honda upping and wandering off to Dome.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion that, from the Dome Carbon Magic branding, they were showcasing their construction abilities. I think that a manufacturer looking to get into prototype racing could come up with a much worse constructor than Dome to be involved with - imagine what they could do with more than their already decent budget.

According to Japanse AUTOSPORT magazine, the engine position of S102 is forward of 15 centimeters compared with other cars by their own regulation interpretation.

It seems, that Dome do have a some kind of connection with Toyota on this one, all three drivers are Lexus drivers from Japanese Super GT.
Daisuke Ito from Eneos Toyota Team Le Mans, Yuji Tachikawa from ZENT Toyota Team Cerumo and Tatsuya Kataoka from Toyota Team Kraft.

Seeying this effort so closely related to the Lola/Aston in shape and in actuall goal,I wouldn't be surprised if this was Toyota's way of probing the current rules for Le Mans...

Imagine a Full Toyota effort with a bloody powerfull hybrid powerplant....

Maybe Ganassi has a couple in hiding somewhere, ready to take his Lexus Grand Am team over to the ALMS shortly.

cracking qualifying time, just a smidge slower than the fastest gas runner which has just been trashed by Dumas.......looks like they will easy start in the top ten, Dome must be well chuffed.

I don't think so. In the photo it all looks like electronics to me. In the rear you can clearly see dampers and springs. http://www.jusseau.com/auto/preleman...pqlm08224.html

Very impressive speed during the first hours. With more test miles the car can really be a surprise.
Well done Dome.
