Update from dean
Hi all firstly I must thank and appologise to Pete, Dave and Andy Milnes for my sudden departure at lunchtime and leaving them in the lurch.
Julie (my wife) went into Grimsby Hospital on Wednesday to have a THYROGLOSAL CYST removed, today however she suffered sudden swelling and contacted our local a&e who said the nearest ent doctor was Scunthorpe and she needed to go. I heard an annoucement in the paddock to contact the venue office who told me to ring home. I got home and picked Julie up and set off on the 45ish mile journey to Scunthorpe. At about 8 miles into the trek I had to dial 999 as she was struggling to breath, it was then blues and twos to grimsby wherc they sorted the breathing and was then blues & twos to scunthorpe where she was banged full off of anti-biotics and we were told by the ent surgen that he had only seen 1 other case as serious as Julie in all his career. The out come is that there has been a bleed behind the incision and this has become accutly infected if she goes thru tonight with out any breathing problems they will move her to grimsby if ther are problems they will have to intubate and keep her sedated till infection is cleared. I hope that the day finished as good as it had began and the racing was as good as yesterday. Will keep you all informed but I may miss the Kart GP at Cadwell next week. Again thanks Pete, Dave & Andy. Regards Dean Watson |

Dean, As all good marshals do, You went where you were needed most!, Very glad to hear Julie is feeling better, I was as worried for you as Julie, You looked like a driver just about to be hauled before a clerk, and did wonder if you would make it home!
Definately no need to apologise, Best wishes to Julie & I hope to see you soon. Andy & Family |

Hi all
thank you Andy & Dave for your concerns about me. I was rather shell shocked to say the least but I managed to keep it together untill I got home last night. I beleive it was the "tango adrenalin" that kept me going as I was still in the probans till late. I went to see her this evening and she is doing well there may be some surgery tommorow to clean away the infection. Julie is in good spirits although the severity of yesterday is only now hitting home. She is blown away with all your kind words and good wishes and hopes to meet you soon (some of you for the first time) to thank you personaly. Dean Last edited by Dean Watson; 17 Jul 2006 at 20:51. good news
Hi all
After watching some good racing and poor organisation (as a spectator) today at cadwell myself and tribe of animals (sorry kids) went to see julie, and were confronted with "if you hadn't gone to cadwell this morning I could have gone out for a couple of hours". At which point guilt started to edge in and I enquired if we could take her out for a shortg while to which the answer was yes. So we had a pleasant couple or three hours on cleethorpes front and had fish and chips. All being well and if the stich comes out tomorrow then julie may well be home in the evening so fingers crossed. |

best news yet
Hi all
Julie is now home. Altho yet another weeks supplies of anti biotics so we're hoping that this will be the finish of all the infection. But she needs to get well quick now cos if the hospital food wasn't bad enough she is now being subjected to my cooking. I am trying to convince julie that early september is still warm enough to camp (2 dayer at cadwell 2nd & 3rd sept). if we dont camp I will make sure that she attends one of the days. There are a few people she would like to meet. |
