krzysiek_aleks should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
40 minutes in during pre-season testing and we already have faster times in GT Masters - 1:36.867 by K. van der Linde compared to 1:38.193 in second qualy last year in GTM by Steijn Schothorst (fastest qualy time that weekend)

And I think there's potential for more. I understand it's very cold at the track which doesn't help in achieving super fast times and also the teams are probably sandbagging a bit.

Hopefully BOP won't be used too much and the racing is close enough not to need it. It gets too random at times. Hopefully different tyre compounds will be more key

Some Japanese team has shown their Mercedes with and without BoP recently. Pace difference was huge. Extra HP were noticeable every straight. With Michelin in DTM corners will be faster too. So, no super news here.

In 2019 Q1 hockenheim GTopen pole was 1.36.75, yesterday DTM test best time was 1.36.59... it's just about putting 2+2 together to understand why

We'll see how it looks like in the season but I think DTM's BOP gives chance for faster times than in ADAC GT.

Let alone the fact DTM has a very strong grid quality-wise, unlike ADAC GT which has a mix of professionals and amateurish drivers. Also, I prefer single driver format to ADAC GT. I enjoy watching ADAC GT but truth is driver changes in such short races is like an art for art's sake.

Yes, hopefully DTM will provide great racing, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Btw from Berger's words it's quite hard for me to judge if we can expect more entries or not. It's quite cryptic at the moment.

Nope. The cars in the DTM are running with 570 - 600 hp, the 911 GT3 R has max. 520 hp. The technical director drom the ITR confirmed, that the other cars are to fast in the configuration and they don´t make them slower for one make.

Don't know... dtm gt3 cars are now using michlein and basically scored the same laptimes of gtopen in 2019, basically are the same cars using the same tires. These better performances are mainly given by michelin than else... I don't expect dtm is using unrestricted cars, likely bop is be similiar to other series, sort of AMG gt3 at about 1300-1330kg, M6 about >2bar for most of rpm range etc...

Regardless lap time comparison will be most fun if the DTM cars run on a track that WEC GTE Pro does as well. Will this happen?

Michael Resl technical director from the ITR confirmed, that their cars running with a little restrictor and sources from the paddock confirmed, that the Audi didn´t have one.

The cars have many sensors built into the tests, they were significantly heavier than the minimum weight.

well, a R8 gt3 without restrictors should be in the range of 640hp, like the R8 gt2, since it's basically the street V10 engine at its full power. If this is true, well I'm a bit disappointed since it would mean that a michelin R8 at full power is just about 1.5-2s faster than a pirelli R8 with >100hp less (despite the weight handicap as you say).
