I'm feeling like that with my Fiesta as well Maisie!
It has it's bad points, like rust round the petrol cap (was common on that model of Fiesta) and rust in many other places, but I'd be sad to see it go, I think we're for getting a newer car and perhaps I will stuff the Fiesta! |

1975 Toyota Corolla Hardtop. Stock standard with a whole 72HP at the flywheel. Crappy brown color.
After eight years it was red, lowered etc. and a hell of a lot faster and a whole lot more fun Wish I still had it |

My first car was a 1982(?) Mk3 Escort Estate 1100- the base version which came complete with not a stereo but a mono!
I bought it when I was 23, I'd used my parents cars until then but they moved away from where I lived so I had to put my short arms into my deep pockets..... I ran that car for three years until a drummer asked me to move his gear once too often so I part exchanged it for a Dutton- two seats and no luggage space! |

hmm a mono!, not heard of them before.
my first car was a 1989 F reg Escort XR3i, I broke all the rules of advice about buying a private motor and found out later to my expense. At least it wasn't a stolen one though and once I had fixed everything it was a very nice car. |

heh, no not back then. It had some Splitfire spark plugs which I swore give me more MPG.
I didnt drive so fast when I had that car, I just looked after it. an RS Turbo might have turned me into a speed freak though |

first car... well, hopefully it'll be a nice sparkly couple of year old clio.
theoretically, i'm sure i could have claimed squatters rights over the car i drove for a good year and a half after passing my test, my bmw 316i, about h reg on french plates. never was mine but i put tens of thousands of kilometres on it... |

My fist car was a six year old 1982 Toyota KE70 Corolla CS sedan. It was in good nick with 104,000km on the clock. I kept it for four years, it was reliable, economical and easy to drive.

I was actually counting on having a 1976 GT Invader kit car as my first (I'm 13). But, three months ago in the midst of a heavy rainstorm, a dead tree fell square on the roof of it. (it had been in "storage"-in my backyard).
Quite a rare car, actually. It has a Beetle chassis and engine, with Pinin Farina bodywork. It had already needed some work on it, though, and a limb from the same tree had fallen onto the windshield a month earlier. Last edited by RacerGuy2; 6 Jan 2003 at 18:22. |

A sad little Renault 5, (Le Car, here in the States)
It honed my skills at two-wheeled cornering. |

Do you have any pics of it (or an unsquashed example!) as I can't find it in any of my kit-car books?

(Scroll down to find it.) I think my dad took pictures of it after the windshield was smashed for the insurance company. I'll see if I can find them for you. |

Before my brother and I were born, it seems my father had somewhat of a knack for finding rare cars. He also had a Bertone-bodied Fiat X-19.Aparrently, they weren't really rare then, but they're rust-buckets, so they are now. (That's why he sold it.)

There are some wild looking cars on that site! The American kit market had many more VW based kits than we ever did, but then we had plenty of Mk1 and 2 Escorts just asking to be turned into kits like Duttons etc
