Some developments:

and on an interesting aside, Robin Webb has fingers in other pies:

http://www.i1superseries.com/

An obsession with the word "super"?

Recent press release says they're moving base from Barcelona to Silverstone to "bring the championship closer to a number of its suppliers, which I hope will help strengthen existing partnerships and open doors to new ones."

I've read this twice now, and still can't work out the significance of it: http://www.superleagueformula.com/ne...chassis-supply

Could be a new chassis in 2013. Could be Lola. Who knows?

Interesting. The suspicious race cancellations, premises move etc in SLF led me to believe a new chassis would be the last of their concerns.

Here's some more on the Lola 'World Senior Car' -

http://www.racecar-engineering.com/n...-wheel-racing/

Edit: well actually reading it, it doesn't add anything, seems to be just a response to SLF's press release. Sam speculates that the car is based on the aborted F1 car. Certainly seems to have F1 style wings. Must say I preferred when junior spec single seaters seemed less influenced by F1, such as the Lola T96/50, B99/50 and B02/50, and the first generation GP2 car.

me neither, that's a bit like, "man buys pint in pub: says more to follow". can't quite work out whether they're trying to demonstrate there's still life in the old dog yet, whether they're trying to blackmail the existing chassis suppliers or if the teams have grumbled that the current cars have no relevance to anything else on the single seater ladder and are thus no use for the youngins to learn in.

There's no need to. Elan Motorsport is pretty much two guys and a dog right now. Most of the guys there went on to form Ralph Firman Racing which is making F2000 cars now, and the Panoz family seems to be trying to find any way to recoup money after the Abruzzi disaster. They are in no shape to begin designing and manufacturing a new car.

I notice that Motors haven't scheduled the Beijing races at the end of the month. Do they know for sure that Superleague is dead?

Also Superleague have removed the New Zealand race from the calendar on their website.

Pure speculation, but the fact that Atech Reid have applied for a Formula Renault 3.5 entry may not be a good sign for Superleague.

The fate of this year's season will be known at the end of this week apparently, when the cars would have to be shipped in order to make it for the next round in China.

Also, word is that engine suppliers (MCT) have already begun taking engines off some of the teams...

Hmm, not convinced they're being entirely honest about the reasons behind the cancellation of the Brazilian and Chinese rounds...

Robin Webb has said that they'll be ditching the football teams and going down the national route next season.

Careful Robin, he who runs from the fear falls into the pit. Looks like you're about to take a tumble.

What Superleague formula need is a NEW competition director and a NEW series president who can overcome SF from all of its problems, and i hope that the new competition director n the new president will be able to fulfill my 2 hopes:

1. Bring back the football club teams
2. Make a stable calendar around Europe with no asterisks put next to them

Also the prizes are too high in my opinion

I'm suprised it lasted this long. What a horrible series, I mean mixing soccer and motorsport? How was that ever going to work!

Carsandmotorracing, the racing is well and great. Just very poorly managed.
