Chris Townsend should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I think that Eddie Macello would be Eduardo Marcello - later owner of an ex Opert Chevron B34

Did we ever solve this one from Bryan? I have done a search but couldn't find the answer if we did.

Ted Payne BT36 at Cadwell Park August 1974, and Croft March 1975.
I also have a Motoring News report of Payne with a Vegantune BT36 in August of that year.

The likely cars are 3 or 4.

In 1974 Howlings had 36-1, 36-2 was in SE Asia, 36-5 was Koob/Choat, 36-6 & 7 were in Argentian, Barak had 36-8, Araujo had 36-9, Hardesty had 36-10, 11 was in Switzerland? and 12 was in Japan.

Chris, Marcello had friends in high places I am told. Financial service industry for ex presidents.

Chris,

Interesting you have FL-1-65 against the U.K. hillclimb car , I noted this in an Autosport circa 1970.

The BT14 sold new to Bib Stillwell in 1965 has always had this same number , I wonder what the story is.????

Young Andrew , when are you going to enlighten the world as to your recent Brabham BTxxxxx acquisition.???????????

Bryan.

ahhhhhh!

Phillip Island, Feb 26th, is my indend date to debut Rondel Racings' BT36-1 and BT36-2 together for the first time in 33 years.

After a talk with Neil Trundle both are being repainted in original colours with original style logos.

36-2 still has its original dash and body work. It also has the modified front roll bar brackets done in order to raise the steering wheel for Graham Hill.

I can be found these days, sitting in my garage, with a glazed look, and stupid grin. Sometimes I manage to lift a spanner, and do a bit more work.

Should be track testing around Christmas time, if its not too hot. Oh the hardships of living in the sub tropics!

Ted, its lucky Mr Harper does not post here!!

36-9 continues to avoid dection but I am considerably closer to the last known owner. Only problem is there are hundreds with the same surname in the phone book!

36-8 on the other hand has gone stone dead cold, ending with Bob Howlings in '75. Phil Barak never saw it again nor can I find any reports in Autosport.

As Andrew Fellowes now owns BT36-1 and BT36-2 , there would appear to be serious scope for cloning , and a spare will be produced over Xmas , chassis plated BT36-1 1/2. which we all know was the much used spare car for Schenken/Hill/ Wollek. We need a serious trail on this Andrew, via Argentina would seem a safe bet , as nobody seems to have any contacts over there, no publications , nobody can read Spanish/ Portugese , etc.etc.
Alternatively , you could actually FIND over there the long lost BT36-9.

Bryan as you know we have a very good ex-F1 fabricator living in the hills here. I thought a full production run of BT 35/36's given the new FIA rules that are going to be used in European Historic Races.
I haven't thought how the chassis' should be numbered. Instead of BT how about BE as a gesture to thank little Bernie?

Brabhams in The Scottish Hillclimb Championship

The following is a list of Brabham drivers in the aforementioned championship:

1973
Iain McLaren in a BT36 and for the June Doune only a BT30
Bob Leckie in a BT36 with FVC engine

Steve, interesting indeed. I speculate that Ian McLaren might have been a BT30 all along. They were sometimes confused by reporters.I wonder which chassis number?

Bob Leckie was BT36-8 but I didn't have the FVC bit in my notes, (and this car is very sadly still missing).

Scots Hillclimbing Brabhams

ANDREW - the information comes from the reviews of the Scottish Championship. The first volume was done as a retrospective in the late 80s and it may well have lifted details from the programmes and club entry lists - hence the BT30 for McLaren and the FVC in Bob Leckie's BT36.

Tim Schenken's car to Bob Howlings.
Car seems to have been hired to Tate of Leeds for G. Hill for early 1972 F2 rounds , untill Hills BT38 is delivered.
For sale Tate of Leeds 27-4-1972 p.65.

Re. the 3 Rondel cars , Chris Townsend has seperate reports , one stating a car with Fred Opert in the U.S.A is ex. Rondel BT36 , and a seperate adv. Athur Moore in an ex. Rondel car..
BT36-1 now with Andrew Fellowes in Australia.
Did we get any further with this car? I've got a story of an ex-Hill Brabham in the US being used as the basis of the Osprey Can-Am car in 1977/78. Could this be the car reported above as being ex-Rondel and with Opert? The story I have is that it was with someone in Chicago before becoming the Osprey.

If not BT36/1 then maybe BT36/2? Or maybe BT36/1.5?

Allen

Allen 36-1 & 2 are in my garage,
No.2 was found by Leif Norberg in 88 in Manila, all there except engine. The gearbox he had to dig up out of the mud but its restored and back in the car. The steering column is as per the mods done for Hill shorter, and set under the front anti-roll bar. I think the dash is 100% as it was in 71. A very original bit of kit.
the 3rd car No.9 I will p m you about later today.
Regards Andrew

Bt36

Monza, June 26th 1973

There were 4 BT36's entered (F2R). Is this possible?

Bob Marsland/Bob Marsland with Hart power was a NC
Alfred Amweg CH/Alfred Amweg -DNA (BT36-11?)
Roland Binder D/Roland Binder (BT36-4)DNA
Dave Morgan GB/Edward Reeves DNA

Who was Bob Marsland? Was this really a BT36 & if so which one, was Edward Reeves' car a BT36?

The earlier Reeves/Morgan car was #8 (which doesn't mean this was the same car)

Yes indeed, -I was expecting Bryan to have his two penny worth!!

By the by David, Bryan will be out in the A1GP support race at Eastern Creek, the car looks stunning in full Dave Morgan spec. -except it might have 14's & not 12's on the rears-!!! It will be a touch warmer than Mallory was in March 1972.

Bob M also did some 2-litre G6 racing, with a Chevron B26 (??). Backed by a company called 'Hayseech Grey Iron Castings' at one point. They don't make em like that anymore !

Ted/Dan thank you for the Bob info,

I guess I thought I had a full list of BT36 owners for 1973, except perhaps for BT36-9 which I have as John Kendall sold to Jose Araujo with a ? (Jose was a very wealthy Argentinean, F Atlantic & some rally driving from the little I can find)

Any ideas which chassis number Bob's car could have been?
