Yep, I'm sure I remember being at Lydden on New Years' Day when the old Winterseries ran up to the early 90's

6R4 engine noise- just what you need when you've got the hangover from hell....

The more I think about the lydden Winter series Im sure this is where Richard Hutton in the 6r4 came through from the back of the grid in all the finals and eventually winning the Afinal to give him his first competitive win in the mighty metro Infact I will put money on it that it was the winter series lol
So yep they definatly did happen

does anyone have any ideas on what the format will be, what classes will be run, and i spose the all important question is how much will entry be?

Quote from this week's MN

Quote:
Lydden bosses are set to run a three-round Winter Rallycross Championship to ERC standards to help track officials prepare for next April's event.

Circuit owner Pat Doran said: "We will use European timing gear and introduce a joker lap where drivers will have to use the start straight on one extra occasion."

The November date is now missing from the web site.

http://www.lyddenhill.co.uk/calendar.php

Any reason?

Your right there was one for the 29th Nov - cos it was going to clash with a Christmas Lunch - and I had decided that fresh air and a breakfast roll at Lydden would probably do me more good than a Christmas Dinner!

Sorry, so does this mean that the November meeting has been cancelled? Getting quite soon now... any news on classes or if there is still to be a mini-championship of some sort?

The official dates will be January 3rd & February 7th.
The November 29th date has been cancelled as Lydden will be continuing with circuit improvements up until christmas.
Further details on the event will be available over the next couple of weeks.

Am i correct in saying that doing this will break all the rules:
1) The joker lap must be 2 seconds slower than the standard lap.
2) Both sections must be loose.
3) The joker lap must be seperated by the main track by a safety barrier - too dangerous surly?

fia and no they dont apply to the event.
But if this is to be a test of the FIA circuit what is the point in running on a circuit that is not legal?

Does anyboby know whats going on with the winter series??

I have contacted the circuit a couple of times over the the last 2/3 weeks but I can't seem to get any info from them. There is no entry form on the website as yet or details of classes..etc.

I am beggining to wonder if the Jan date will also get cancelled, same as the November one?

Good to hear. The danger is that if we don't see some regs and entry forms soon people will make other plans. Entries are not easy to attract in winter at the best of times. This is not a dig at Lydden who are doing an excellent job with the ERC etc - its just that I'd love to see a successful winter series get off the ground again.

had this e mail this week hope it helps

Dear Competitor,

Lydden Hill Motor Club (LHMC) would like to invite you to take part in the Winter Series Rallycross events, the first of which taking place on 3rd January 2009.
This event will be the first of its kind for over a decade at Lydden Hill and we appreciate
your support to ensure it remains a permanent feature on the Lydden calendar. It is an excellent opportunity to blow the post-season cobwebs off and a fantastic way to
celebrate the new year!

You will need to be a member of LHMC before your entry can be accepted, please
download all necessary forms from www.lyddenhill.co.uk or by clicking the links below.

Marshal volunteering forms cover 3rd Jan (described as an ERC event), but no mention of 7th Feb on them.

They also show the ERC dates of 12th / 13th April; plus BRDA 25th May & 31st Aug.

I wonder whether the February event is only pencilled in, in case another dry run is needed after 3rd Jan?

Always happy to drive down from Milton Keynes for events at Lydden - the efforts that you folk put into the racing makes standing out in the extremes of temperature worthwhile.

I have been trying to get details about marshalling this event, Jan 3rd, but have got no where. Can anyone point me in the right direction please, or are Rallycross events over-subscribed for marshals?
