I think it was an obvious clanger when you slow down so much (against the regulations) that 2 cars pass you, and one is your team mate.
But procedurally I don't know how it is supposed to work. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk |

Karma sorted it out efficiently enough. Would any other team have managed this? Probably not. It is little wonder so many people consider there is a bias toward Team 888. WAU had their front row converted to a rear row start for questionable evidence of a tech breach, how is it a team like that couldn't argue a reversal? Race wasn't underway so time was on their side. I can't imagine they just accepted the decision - they seemed confident as to how it occurred. EDIT - Just read the speecafe article on the WAU penalty - I was unaware of some detail, but doesn't change the top half of my post. Anton is restarting in front of Giz, he needs to hold speed +/- 5kmh before the line...how Giz can be sure he fell under that tolerance while driving at speed in the rain at night, I'm not sure, another one of his superpowers I guess. Fair dinkum. It's completely unreasonable to race in the rain at night.
These types of decisions are not in line with responsible conduct of racing. There'd be some "highly credentialed" people within the motor racing industry that have forgotten how dangerous it is. |

The only thing I'll say is that I think racing during the night and rain is unique to Le Mans/24 Hours races. It's unavoidable and you have the leeway to be really conservative under those conditions. Conventional sprint racing is done during the afternoon. Night racing is a novelty. |

Also, red-flagging the race was a foreseeable outcome. Therefore the fact the race was allowed to go ahead to a poor reflection on Schenken/race control.
Iirc, Schenken once brought out the safety car at SMP due to some stray, out of the way debris. So he's really just making it up as he goes along and shouldn't be a steward. |

Jack Smith deserves to be called out.
He looks like he doesn't want to be there, terrible attitude |

I liked Mr Whincup's attitude... not just rolling over and dying because he is almost finished his full time career. It actually mattered to him. You can hear it in his radio comms, in the interviews after the race, and in the body language
Now THAT is the attitude of a racing driver. None of this cruise and collect mentality. You can argue the team order defiance isnt a good look in public Except the #97 couldnt get past without bashing into the #88. If you are faster... show it... dont cry to the team you cant get past on skill... |

As for Smith, have the same feeling. He's hopeless on the track and seems completely uninterested about his own career. I'm surprised where this attitude comes from, lots of (much better) boys would love to be in his position... |

Geez they were silly for not letting Matt Campbell drive.
And really I thought you needed to wait 2 weeks after the 2nd shot to be considered fully vaccinated, that's what the border rules say. Given DR's issues with mental health and performance, I'm going to be interested to see how he goes. |

Rain forecast for night race Saturday.Hope we don’t get the same red flag finish.
Even more rain for Sunday but the combination of spray and glare from the lights won’t be there so less likelihood of a wash out. |

Still not the biggest attendance Brown has raced in front of at Eastern Creek.

I agree but it’s a Supercars own goal. They can’t have it both ways, if they don’t want main drivers teaming up in the enduros, then you can’t have Matt Campbell driving one car this week and another car next week.
Time to let teams pair anyone they like at Bathurst from 2022? We do have new owners after all…. |

Cant wait for 888 to win everything again with 2 serious aces in the lead car, and the second for cannon fodder... while the rest of the field whinges at the top of their lungs that 888 must have an unfair advantage...

An observation..
Why does the ARDC want to waste state government money building a workshop et al for a commercial operation, when the state of the surface of most of the Eastern Creek circuit, and the drainage on and around the circuit, is so fundamentally poor? Puddle and rivers are spoken of in every wet session, cars fall off the road as traction is compromised by tens of thousands of litres of water wobbling across the road surface. It continues to annoy me when the anti-street track folks say we should be investing in permanent circuits, when we have the opportunity and government funds to do so, and clearly cannot be bothered.. Yes the Dunlop wet in Supercar is suboptimal.. and so is the circuit..! |
