This makes me wonder when they are going to fit the 'other' races into the schedule? What's going to happen to the Porsche Supercup and the other support races? Let's hope it doesn't mean he is proposing a Formula 1 only weekend especially given they have to keep the track clear of other formula for several hours before F1's run!

Hi Jozi,
I've been to Kyalami several times to marshal and know just how passionate they are about their racing. It wasn't too many years ago they were promised a GP by Bernie, only to have it fall through when the Rand depreciated like a stone. I know the sponsorship deals were all in place and much work was done on the track. All they got was a test session mainly courtesy of those teams sponsored by BAT who are part owned by a SA company. |

Can the San Marino GP for goodness sakes!
Of, if they want 18, get rid of San Marino and bring back the A1-Ring. At least that produced interesting races. And since they want a worldy flavour, perhaps they should also cancel the Nurburgring race. Why does Germany get two races?!?!? |

San Marino and the A1-ring both were suppose to be canned after this year .

I don't really know what Bernie's proposing. He may doing his best to rid the world of support races and just have F1.
Mind you, 2-day GP weekends are going to be terribly unpopular with everybody: merchandise stands lose a day's trade (and in Renault's case, the chance to increase prices 3 times), hotels/campsites etc. will lose a night's accommodation, mechanics and engineers won't like the additional hassle if somebody totals it. Fans will be affected if they can't get tickets for one of the days, the prices will be higher to make-up for the shortfall caused by one less day's action. Just trying to think who else will be affected. |

I would guess that, despite the wonderful job the marshalls did at Silverstone , the power of the wacky tobbacky is too much for Bernie & Co. to overcome.

The calendar is still too complicated to work out - there are strong rumours that Spa is going to get an April date (so it will still manage to skirt the tobacco ban in mid-2005). And it makes sense to run a back-to-back with the Nurburgring. But then you don't have room for four flyaways at the start of the season - and there's no reason to believe that Brazil is going to get a September date.
Trying to work out the calendar is like trying to complete a logic puzzle.. with pieces missing. For the record - I think it's something like this: 1 Australia 2 Malaysia 3 Bahrain 4 Brazil 5 Spa 6 Nurburgring 7 Spain 8 Monaco 9 Canada 10 USA 11 France 12 Great Britain 13 Germany 14 Hungary 15 Italy 16 Japan 17 China Hope this helps - although there's still no provision for a late reprieve for Imola. Confusing isn't it?!? |

Truth is no races need to be dropped. In the past races have only been dropped when organizers were unable to fund them.I think the first one cancelled in the 'Bernie' era was a Swiss GP at Dijon, which no one would televise!
Lazy team managers need to restructure to allow more races. Last edited by Rob29; 8 Aug 2003 at 08:05. |

I agree Miss Hardt, the loss of Austria is very sad. Same is true for the loss of Montreal...

This just proves my theory. When it happens once, it's continuing and turning into pure agony. First they castrated poor old Hocki. Then they removed Spa from the Calendar. Now A1 Ring and Montreal, but they're like, getting Spa back. It's cynical, unfair and a pure fight for money. Besides, Formula One has turned into pure politics. Unfair.... |
