Anyone else noticed a certain Dunlop Saloons regular pitching himself against the Welsh this weekend??......

I guess Rods racing at Thruxton on Saturday will prevent him from taking in Saturday evenings WRDA race.

Still, with 2 on Sunday there`s still the possibility of having 499 racked-up by Sunday night.

Now, if he was only to start Sundays LMA race as well........

had a brilliant day today.the caterhams provided some excellent racing. there were a fair few incidents and it was good to see that most of the drivers were ok, especially the one involved in the large caterham academy roll-over. it would also be good to mention how lucky it was that no-one was Hurt when the wheel from one of the formula Jedi cars hopped the safety fence on the exit of paddock hill and continued up on the spectators side up to Druids. it could of resulted in an serious injury.

I am certain that if that wheel had collected anyone, then it would not have been surviveable. The energy it carried was just enormous. It`s one of those things though. Motorsport is dangerous. Just seems a very odd co-incidence the way things are happening of late. It was merciful that the Jedis were running last, and even a lot of the so-called enthusiasts had already gone home!!

(To put a lighter slant on things, if anyone has any video footage of it then please put it on youtube!! - I`d be quite interested to see me and my family`s rather pathetic attempt at getting out of the way).

As a so called enthusiast who never goes before the last lap, I was pleased to be invited for a BBQ and miss the last race from my seat at the foot of Paddock Hill Bend, curently running is not my best skill!

never? i didn't see you half way though the SPEED series race

most damage i have ever seen in one weekend at brands hatch, no less then 7 rolls - 3 minis, 1 alfa, 1 500c f3, 1 caterham, 1 formula ford.

excellent racing from the caterhams and mighty minis

I didnt plan on going today but i did...and i am very pleased that i decided to! mini's provided more excellent racing as did the caterhams. That was certainly the most damage i have seen in a weekend...at least the injuries were kept to a relative minimum.

My first session at post 4a and two rollers. Bloody good fun there and looking forward to it again.

Post 5 was intersting on the saturday. Nothing happening all day and then the stange appearance of a 3 wheeled vehicle and a trek to the woods to missing article. Could have been a lot worse though!!

The BRSCC Grand Prix Racewear meeting was probably the best meeting this year at Brands and there was a reasonable crowd too.
The ingredient was good with lots of races that produce REAL RACING
Caterhams, Minis, Saloons and they had good grids too.FFord was good but sadly just 12 cars of which 4 were on the pace.
If you chucked in Mazdas, MR2's you have got something you could market
(anyone remember the Sun £1 race entry and 20,000 people turned up!)
I think the package would blow the doors of the so called Best of British
(sounds like some sort of Lincolnshire sausage to me) and could make a real impact as No2 to BTCC

Holly Reid (gentle) and James Goodall (harder) in Qually at the bottom of/half-way-down Paddock, but both started the race. Stuart Coombs was indeed the roller in the race, but this time the tyre wall at the top of Paddock was involved and the car was extremely second hand afterwards.

A rather good meeting I have to agree. Disappointments were the lack of LMA runners after the initial entry list they published, and the number of Sunday non-starters. The numbers of Fordies - made up for with the seeming "needle"-match which, predictaby, boiled over at the end in true FF fashion. Also, the "wheel" incident which could so easily have been catastrophic. Oh, and where did the days of 2 grids-worth of Alfas go to?

Positives... Good racing. Even from the "too long" Caterham Roadsport A races. Mighty Minis showing more action in one race than a season of Se7ens and Miglias. Some nice Super Tourers. Some eclectic and eccentric Welsh grids - be-winged Suzuki Ignis!!? And Brian Jones AND Robin Murphy in one weekend.... "STONKING" !!

Mildred has forwarded two emails for the marshals at Brands Hatch last weekend --

1) from Mark Greenlees, who rolled his Caterham pretty comprehensively out of Druids,

2) from Jon Ward (Jedi #28) who only had 4th and 5th gears (and occasionally 6th) and finished well last

both thank the marshals for their support during and after their races. Mark also thanked the medics.

SWCRacing has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I think the powers that be need to look closely at the gravel trap at Paddock Hill as from those photos (and personal experience) any car going into that trap sideways is going to roll. The gravel looks to be aything up to 300mm (or one foot) above the track surface, with little or no gradual sloping to it either!

I too am in favour of less gravel, but I guess it's down to risk assesment by the MSA and the circuit.

Remember the tarmic is still there, just below the surface, courtesy of CART who would not run with gravel.

However, to say the gravel appears to be 300mm above the track surface is not a fair reflection on reality. Thats a foot in old money.
50mm/2 inch maybe. In a lot of places we have to work hard to stop there being a drop from the tarmac into the "gravel" due to all those that run 4 wheels over the white line.
Trust me on this, I'm there almost every other weekend. As for slope, Paddock Hill Bend has lots of slope, as does the gravel. Just which way it slopes varies at any given point.
