Best in my recollection (of personal viewing this is) was when Piquet got the message that Jones had blitzed up onto his tail at Monaco in 81 and went off the air till he ran off the road.

Things I've seen:

- Nigel Mansell and Mika Hakkinen winning their World Championships
- HHF winning his first race for Jordan with a stroke of genius and luck
- 1995 Canadian GP - Alesi

Things I've read/seen on tape:

- Fangio's epic driver at the 1957 German GP
- All of Clarks 25 victories
- Stewart and the 1968 German GP
- Villeneuve v Arnoux 1979 French GP

I'll agree with you there! That first lap has to be the most amazing thing I saw with my own eyes.

How about Monaco qualifying in 1988

Monaco race 1984.
Estoril race 1985.

Villeneuve vs Arnoux (WOW!!!!!!)
Fangio at the Nurburgring in 1957.
Monza race 1971.

Rosberg's fastest ever lap of Silverstone - no one will ever beat it.

Sorry, Senna fans - Ayrton tripping over Jean-Louis Schlesser at the chicane in the 88 Italian GP, thus stopping a McLaren whitewash of the season, and allowing a home Ferrari 1-2 weeks after Enzo's death.

Nigel's pass of Nelson at Stowe in the closing laps of the '87 British GP.

James Hunt staying ahead of Niki Lauda to take the 1975 Dutch GP for Hesketh. (Seen on telly at the time - never forgotten)

Just about any time when I got to see Michele Alboreto, Ronnie Peterson, Niki Lauda and Jackie Stewart.

Seeing Stefan Bellof in the Tyrrell, and knowing for sure I was watching a future champion. If only....

There have been so many...

1982. Patrese did in the end and the other two on the podium didn't actually finish!

How about Gilles amazing victory at Jarama, Spain, in 1981, driving a bloody land yacht of a Ferrari, and leading a train of Laffite, Watson, Reutemann, and de Angelis over the line, with a shade over a second separating the five of them.
