I am off to Florida next week. Can any of our American members please let me know when and on what channel I can watch the British GP when I am there.

neilap should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The Speed channel provides live timing of both qualifying sessions and the race. Therefore it will be on at approximately 0700 eastern time.

Speed shows all of F1, but they are only in Digital cable and satellite. Most hotels in Florida have cable, but not all show the digital channels. It varies from city to city, so make sure to find out if the place you're going to stay carries digital cable.

Speed TV usually replays the race at 9pm Eastern time on Sunday. If nothing else you can find a corner in a sports bar and ask the staff to put Speed Channel on one of the set's for you.

Florida in July...make sure the bar is air conditioned.

Actually, Speed Channel is carried on terrestrial cable feeds in quite a few markets. So it depends on where in Florida.

If you're in Miami, there might be a spanish-language channel carrying it.

Seriously, Mal, the Ft. Meyers area is beautiful...it's lush and tropical, not a swamp. Will you be on Sanibel or Captiva Island by any chance?

In fact, if you are staying at a hotel or resort, tell me which one. If it is one of those I work with as part of my job, I can find out right now if they carry Speed Channel.

Mal, you may have missed my edit, but if you are staying at a hotel/resort, I may be able to find out for you if they have Speed.

If you don't want the stalkers and serial killers on this forum to know where you are staying, PM me. (Don't worry about me, I've paid my debt to society.)

I live in Georgia which is just north of Florida and the only channel it comes on for us is speed vision. Qualifying is televised on saturday mornings and the sunday race has a 30 minute race day on before it.

Have, just got back and watched the German GP on Speed channel. The coverage is really poor though. The knowledge and information from the commentary team is terrible, there are ad breaks every few minutes. No wonder F1 is not popular in the states if that is how it gets shown!

Oh, and do American audiences really want wall to wall NASCAR.

I did however enjoy seeing the Trois Rivieres ALMS race live on Sunday

Well, in that part of the country I think it is probably fair to say that most Americans with any interest in motorsports would rather have wall-to-wall NASCAR... but it's not true for everyone everywhere!!!

Good now someone else feels my pain!! I remember when they announced they were going to become the nascar channel. There were many letters of protest. After all it was not nascar fans that made that channel a success. Anyway, now they seem to have forgotten all else. F1 is the only other motorsport that gets live and regularly scheduled races. Even the Speed World Challenge, which they are the main sponsor gets a week maybe longer delay. When they do air the race, one will be lucky to catch it. If you snooze, you lose. To consider that my cable bill has doubled just because I wanted this channel, its pretty upsetting.
