You beat me to it!

Senna nearly stalls, has to come from midfield... Catches Prost, uses the pitlane exit to overtake his teammate at tremendous speed, throwing sparks and nearly clipping the pitlane wall! All this with no fuel strategy involved! How I wish I had a head-on shot from turn one of that pass!

No effing way anyone in the current field could pull off something like that against a driver of Prost's caliber.

Hmm... Another classic moment? How about Imola '93, Alex Zanardi tries to keep driving his Lotus after it's already on fire, the rear suspension is all askew... He goes down the pit straight at full tilt, spewing sparks and flames... Doesn't stop until a wheel finally falls off!

Gotta love that guy.

Have to say the Monaco Grand Prix 2001 with DC obviously forgetting that he should really pass EB and the fact the Marshall at the bottom of the hill kept waving the blue flag which I can't say EB looked thrilled about! Maybe not a great classic for McLaren but it was for Arrows :-)

Anything from Ronnie Peterson and Gilles Villeneuve is a classic. That article, describing how Ronnie got his qualifying in Argentina 73 was magic.

*Yawn* Not surprising, yet another lame childish personal attack from boots to add to the list.

Here is another "childish" classic moment that hasn't been mentioned:
Hungry 89 - Mansell goes 3-wide to pass Senna for the lead

An unpopular one in some circles I know but IMO JPM's Move on Schuey a couple of races ago was a very classy move.

Sorry Ross!!

Not that I am pleased that he went off But I always liked JV's "I Lift for no one" attitude in the 96 French GP

I Can just picture him in the pits saying to his race engineer " Don't be so stupid of coarse I can take it flat"

He's said that about Eau Rouge a few times

A couplr of Niges:

'The pass' by Mansell on Piquet at the end of Hangar Straight - Silverstone 1987. Pure class!

The brilliant spin recovery at Imola 1990. I haven't seen anything like that for a while..

JPM on Michael at Intelagos in 2001?

JPMs 3rd race right? Thats when everyone sat up and took notice!

Another classic in my eyes was the last few laps of Monaco 92 where Mansell harassed Senna but couldnt get past! I remember that as though it was yesterday (well Mums screaming kinda made my ears ring!)

Took the words right out of my mouth. Though I took notice a couple of years earlier when he won the CART championship as a rookie.

The rain-affected European Grand Prix at the new Nurburgring in 1995 is a race that sticks in the mind. Mick closing on Alesi lap after lap and then getting him on the outside at the Veedol. There was even contact.

A pass for the lead. How rare is that?

Hill in Hungary 1997 is a classic moment definately too as he finally gets on over on Mick.

Classic Moments huh? Hmmm...

1968 Germany - Stewart wins by FOUR minutes
1991 USA - Martini starts from the front row of the grid
1998 Australia - Mclaren lap the field
1998 Japan - Hakkinen and McLaren take the WDC
1999 France - Frentzen wins a classic race
1999 Europe - Herbert wins, points for Minardi
1999 Japan - Hakkinen and McLaren take it again
2000 Germany - The most memorable race ever for me, brilliant
2001 Brazil - JPM teaches Schu a lesson, before the Boss interrupts
2002 Australia - Points for Minardi and Webber
2003 Malaysia - Alonso/Trulli lock out the front row
2003 Brazil - Fisi FINALLY gets the win he deserves

There's a few of my favourites

Just remembered Adelaide '95. It may have been a bit of a boring race to some, but Damon Hill lapped everyone twice. Panis finished second after driving a blown engine around for 3 laps. Morbidelli was third beating boring Blundell into forth.
I remember this race because it began a change in Damons fortune.

Think you're right. An intersting choice that doesn't immediately spring to mind. Most of mine have been mentioned. My favourites being Hungary '89 and Mexico '90.
Mind you, Nelson's drive round the outside of Senna's Lotus at Hungary wasn't gad either!

This is about classic GP-moments and you name this particular moment. You don't really care about the racing itself I take it, just when Schumacher looks embarrasing, its good enough to not only remember it, its good enough to name exclusively in a thread about classic GP-moments.

Now, what would you name as a racing moment, because I suppose thats what a GP moment should be about?
