I found it quite an entertaining race, actually, and a dominant performance from JPM which reminded me for all the world of Schuey's many wins from the front. A classy, classy drive (pace Ross Brawn).

Yes, it is a great drive from the Colombian. On the limit and consistent fast laps... if that's the quality he can maintain for the remaining season, he has a good chance. Well done to Michelin/Williams/BMW too for producing a dominating package. Pity Ralf/Rubens/Raikkonen couldn't go further than the first lap to make it a great race though.

P.S - R, amazing what a different car/driver can change your perception of a magnificent race yah? enjoy this victory!

The only downside was Ralf being taken out, or Williams would have been leading the championship.

The Trulli, Schu, Coulthard fight was good while it lasted.

With you R, superb win by JPM, seems "Mr Inconsistancy" is proving his critics wrong.

It was a pretty good race, not as good as Silverstone obviously but the end was pretty good to watch, first half was a little bit stale but there were a couple of moves by da Matta which were good to see.

Also I think its a shame that the best corner at the track isnt what it was, on the old circuit the corner entering the stadium was awesome! Now its slower (still quick) and well not as awesome!

Accept this time there was somthing going on behind the race winner and we didn't just stare at said race winner for the entire Grand Prix.

Thanks! And I will not deny what you said.

It's also a nice revenge for JPM after the cruel misfortune which befell him in the German GP 2 years ago, when he should have taken the win.

Inigo, the difference IMO is that Ferrari used to do it race in and race out. This season, we have had seven different drivers winning! (And of course as a Montoya fan, I'm delighted to see him take this win, which means he's right up there in the championship battle. )

There were some dull moments but the tension was constant, and the action towards the end was superb.

My first thought when Shcuamcher passed Trulli was how ludicrous the lack of gravel at these parts of the track (and a lot of other Tilke-rings) is, as it doesn't disadvantage the driver who makes a mistake. If it was this run-ff which caused Michael's tyre to go down then I see it as poetic justice.

Great drive by Montoya, I don't think Ralf would've beaten him today.

Coulthard would be my dirver of the day though, with a superb move on Webber as well as some great duellign agaisnt Schuamcher and Trulli. He may ahve passed Michael without the puncture, and really seserved a podium today.

Indeed not. After a rocky start, Montoya is firmly establishing himself over Ralf at Williams. What price Ralf's seat in 2005? Although, knowing Williams, JPM will win the championship and then get sacked in favour of Nicolas Kiesa, who will underperform and be dumped.

In all fairness, I don't think the vultures should gather over Ralf at this moment. He's done a superb job lately, and everyone suffers a retirement from a race sooner or later.

If waas great drive from Montoya, but it doesnt feel THAT good when every other contender was taken out. I am a montoya fan, but it surely feels better when you beat the opposition on track.

Winning by over a minute is fairly conclusive. No it's not as sweet as Monaco but he's proving just how good he can be, he can win by fighting or when dominating.

Honestly, Williams should retain their current driver-lineup because it actually complements the team.

And there is no way DC would have overtaken MS without the puncture coming into play.

Quote:"as it doesn't disadvantage the driver who makes a mistake. If it was this run-ff which caused Michael's tyre to go down then I see it as poetic justice."

But the point is, Michael didn't make a mistake! It's a nice overtaking move, though one not quite what Michael had in mind. And it is thanks to the lack of gravel traps that allow such moves.

Fair enough but without gravel traps there is virtually no punishment for when a driver does make a mistake... its too forgiving these days.

Come on, NickF1, even without the puncture, JPM would have beaten TGF with nearly a minute. And TGF is the strongest opposition there is in F1.

"No way" is a bit strong. I think he would have had a chance. It would have been very hard though.

Come on, MS overtook Trulli who was visibly struggling with badly blistering tyres. It was inevitable, not nice.

Sorry to disapoint you all but most of montoya's 'form' is just that they are getting the car set up to suit him well these days-he's allways been fast.Same with ralfs'
recent form. That williams seems to be tricky to get right-and then they loose the 'sweet spot' again when they continue to develop it and have to find it again.
I really hope monty and his williams are up for it at ALL the remaining races-in any case that would make more interest than if ralf gets on song again.Imagine ralf fighting with michael for the championship decider?!!
Yeah,right..

It was a good move and he did well to make it stick, even though Trulli ran him off the road. But driver of the day as a result of doing it? I don't think so.

Ah, but a good driver will know how to get the car set up well. These days, as well as driving fast, you've got to know what's goig on with the car, give good feedback to the team, and set your vehicle up so it goes as fast as it can.
