F4000 name change?
I know it's been a complete irrelevance for years now, but an article on italiaracing.net seems to suggest F4000 (ex-Formula Holden) might be renamed Australian F3000 V6 this year - http://www.italiaracing.net/news.asp?id=13775
If I'm understanding Babel Fish's translation correctly, it sounds as though the series will be run by a different organiser too. Anyone have more details? Will it make any difference to the pathetic car counts? I'd love to see Australia have a decent single seater series again, rather than two weak ones. If it's just another name change I can't see it making much difference. |

Just discovered the new site for F3000 V6 (or F3000V6 or F3000v6 - decide how you want to write it guys!) -
http://www.f3000v6.com/ At least the website looks regularly updated, unlike the old F4000.com |

I absolutely love these cars but sadly the series hasnt been one that has stirred the imagination of the australian public for years if at all.
I Hope they can improve on car counts and driver talent as well as on track racing this year. Thanks for the link Jon |

If someone manufactured these chassis locally, it would make it more financially accessible, increasing the overall number of competitors.

yeah, from 6 to 7 - amazes me that this series keeps popping up each season....
and i was big fan when they ran at winton with the v8's. remember asking rick kelly in the cockpit of his young lions reynard if he was heading overseas the following year (2002), he said no, no budget! bet craig lowndes was happy with that decision |

Davide Amaduzzi? Oh man, that guy sucked when he raced Barber Dodge 2000 in 1999! Considering he did F3 in Italy before that I though he'd kick all of our butts at Laguna Seca. Instead he was over two seconds off the pace and went off at least once every session....Even in the rain he wasn't that good, against guys who've never raced in the rain before. I don't know guys, but if he's able to finish on the podium it tells you a little bit about the talent pool in that series. The last decent year of Formula Holden (F4000, F3000V6 or whatever) was when Rick Kelly & Murcho were racing back in 2001.

i believe for Amaduzzi it is a good publicity for him to race there because if he was racing in Europe nobody would talk about him , he would be one italian driver between other ones ... but we can consider the level of open wheel racing series (F3 and whatever) in australia is a bunch of left hand drivers... but we still have to consider and respect them whatever theirs level is, it is part of motorsport, there are only very few drivers who get paid for racing in the world ... most peoples who make money are team owners...

The funniest thing that happened in the series was when Amaduzzi had a mouthful of words to Derek Pingel after an on-track incident between the two. Just seeing the small Italian park his car in the middle of pit-lane, walk off to Pingel and point and yell some words. He was still spitting chips after the stewards decision.
When I first entered the site, I thought it was Team Sydney's website. With all the contact details now directed towards them, does this mean they are looking after the management side, whilst Pingel is looking after the financial side? Afterall he does own a few cars. |

Locally manufacturing a carbon tub car is not feasible at present. You'd have to crash test the tubs to start with plus the expense of tooling up. And for what? Making 20-30 tubs at the most?

New name new future!
I've been interested in every ones coments.
Things had to change in this series eg management, name etc A Press Release was sent out today about F3000 v6 and the new alliance with Euroseries 3000, where a young gun will win a test day in Europe. There will be other major benefits which have firmed up over the last 48 hrs which will ensure more of our drivers can race in Europe through our series. Team Sydney which I own will be running Grant Doulman this year from Rnd 2. Grant is also running in the national Formula Ford series this year as well, but this only the start of some young blood coming into the class. F3000 v6 will have a clear direction in 2007 for open wheel racers with talent. Watch this space www.f3000v6.com Cheers Manager of the series |

I've just read the press release concerning the alleance with Euroseries 3000: it sounds good.
I believe this will give a real opportunity to skilled driver to prove themselves in Europe and to show what they can do. So it will attract talented drivers! ;-) |

There are 7 cars who practiced in the first round. Not too bad.
Interesting to see Adam Proctor having a run. And no Derek Pingel or Just Parts driver Mark West. Les Crampton isn't there either. Maybe they might get 10 cars during the year? |
