Zandvoort Revision

Hello, this is my first track revision. I chose Zandvoort, as I know that track from the ToCA series of games.

Firstly, Hugenholtz and the Audi S are no more, replaced by a fast banked sweeper at Hugenholtz, and another sweeper, named after the ballsy Dutch F1 star, Jos Verstappen, where the Audi S once was. To let the Saftey Ninnys *just joking, we need safe racing conditions* be happy, the now rediculously fast run to Kumho as been slowed by the Spyker Chicane, however, for touring car events, the full run through Kumho and Arie Luyendijk are still availible.

Key
Blue-F1 race circuit.
Dark Grey-Touring Car/Club circuits.
Light Grey/Light Red names-Eliminated corners.

I hope this is a good revision for my first.

well, i have to say a nice revision as Zandvoort is my homecircuit

but i would leave the circuit in his originial state if I was the director, is in my opinion good but change can be good too

I wonder what that new-and-improved Gerlach would look like in reality. There's quite some height difference there. I think it'd be pretty cool.

Exactly Lustig. I recall that you've told us, that the elevational difference around Gerlach and Hugenholtz is really too extreme.

I don't like the removal of Audi-S to be frank. That's a fairly nice combo, much nicer than the chicane you have instated instead.

I like Gerlach, would look cool. As for the removal of Audi-S, I agree with T_R

Well, it isn't too extreme. It isn't like Eau Rouge, for example. For an impression, check out this little movie.

Wow Ashley, that's crazy.

Sorry mate, I don't like it. Keep trying though! Try more sweepers, rather than chicanes etc... I do like however, the left hand corner before Kumho.

haha, regarding the original edit, i'd prefer to keep hugenholtz and get rid of spyker alltogether.

Basically what I have done here, is change Hugenholtz into a hard left hander. I think with the aforementioned gradient changes, and the speed coming off Tarzan, this would be a place of high action, and cut-throat overtaking manouvres. The change would create a bigger paddock space.

The next change, comes with an extention of the section to the top right hand side of the track. I wanted to use the speed generated by the double right hander combination at the very top of the track, to make a clear overtaking opportunity, which is also fun to drive. Hence, I create a first hairpin, which would lead onto another after another decent sized full throttle section.

The next change comes with a lengenthing of the track between the entrace and exit of the Audi-S, to make acceleration more gradual, forcing a driver to be more precise on the curbs.

The final alteration to the track, comes with a squaring off of the entrance to Kumho, making it a multi-apex corner.

Also, the pit-lane has been moved further east as we look at it, to get a decent sized paddock.

Thanks T_R, I'm glad you like it dude.

V8, if you don't mind, would go into a little more depth?

Here's one I did a little while back - originally I got rid of Hugenholtz but I've since reinstated it:

Martin, the reason I didn't adjust the top right of the travck is because of the lakes, yours would plow right over them!

I'm not keen on any of the revisions so far suggested-sorry but I'm not. Fundamentally Zandvoort is a great track & I feel adding a 90 degree corner here & a hairpin there would spoil it. The only thing I can think of is to dramatically increase the distance between the Audi S & Kumho. This would create another long straight + overtaking opertunity into the braking area of Kumho. Kumho itself would be unchanged except that the entrance would be slightly looser. This would allow for the current character of the track to be kept, the main straight to be lengthened to closer to it's original length & would allow more overtaking. The only sticking point for me is how much room for expansion there is at Kumho. I'm not sure. Will post the edit soon.

Here it is. This is obviously the most extreme extent to which I would go & I don't know whether even half of this is possible but if it is then it frees up space for a bigger better paddock & more overtaking.

Looks real nice, but make the Audi-S into a sweeper, and it will be gold.
