I have no problem at all with the way the series is promoted and presented which I think is very professional and other so called higher echelon championships could certainly learn a thing or two from JP on that score. But rightly or wrongly it is not particularly highly regarded from within the industry as a good young driver development series. Maybe it just suffers badly from its recent history of being a rich "wannabee weekend race drivers" series for stockbrokers etc. Also the £55k plus VAT budget is without the add ons for damage pool, over revs, additional hospitality (standard is 2 per driver) and of course any additional testing so I think the front runners probably end up spending a little bit more. But hey it's been around now for a dozen years or so and rarely doesn't fill it's grid so it must have something going for it! |

Tristan Vautier, Jose Alonso & Richard Plant took the race wins at Silverstone on the National circuit... I wonder if Jose Alonso is related to that double world champ in F1

Rounds 7 & 8 are being held at Snetterton - on a good card mind you with Formula 3 & Formula Ford...
Richard Plant has the pole for both races, 20 cars on the grid... |

I was at Oulton for the latest round, there was some good racing. Tristan Vautier won the the first two races from F2 driver Kazim Vasiliauskas and Richard Plant. That was 4 wins on the bounce from him, but then Plant won the 3rd race to stop his winning streak! These cars run nose to tail unlike F3, as the front and rear wings aren't anywhere near as efficient. I think its a great series, wide slick tyres and a nice sounding turbo with 350bhp on power boost! In all 3 races the midfield were extremely close, mainly due to Emma Kimilainen who qualified well, but slowed up in the races, creating a chain of about 10 cars behind her! Unfortunately in the second race Maxime Jousse and David Rotar went off at Island at about 120mph, and 2 laps later Kimilainen spun into the cars which hadn't been removed. Rotar's car was an absolute mess, his left sidepod was destroyed and himself and Jousse couldn't start the 3rd race.
Good onboard vid here of an FPA lapping Oulton Park: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMMAD...e=channel_page Standings: 1. Vautier 218pts 2. Vasiliauskas 185pts 3. Plant 180pts 4. Foster 161pts 5. Kimiläinen 132pts |

Yeah they do move about quite a bit. Jon Barnes who was champion a couple of years ago tested a Carlin F3 car and said the Palmer Audi was still quicker in a straight line, but you lose time in the corners because you have to wrestle the steering wheel more than in F3. No silly sequential gearboxes either!
Should also mention that Kenny Andrews crashed at Druids on Friday practice with Paul Rees, and withdrew from the races due to an injured back. |

Here's an update on the condition of Kenny Andrews from the FPA website - http://www.formulapalmeraudi.com/new...overy-(1).aspx |

There seemed to be quite a few crashes from the races though, including this rather spectacular shunt. Luckily neither driver was injured, it looks like both were lucky not to get hit from the other cars after the main shunt: http://www.formulapalmeraudi.com/new...take-wins.aspx |

Lucky boy! Aside from the crash, Pineiro looks pretty quick considering it was his debut! Only 2 points in it between Vatier and Plant now, should be an interesting final round.

Is there no Autumn Trophy this year? I can't find anything about it on the website. Felix Rosenqvist has signed up to race in the final round at this weekends title decider at Snetterton. He is the Swedish Formula Renault champion this year and last year won the Formula 2.0 Asia championship.

And Richard Plant is the champion, well done to him! Vasiliauskaus finished as runner-up, Tristan Vatier had a bad final round and dropped to 4th in the standings, Adam Foster managed to beat him to 3rd.
