2004 Kumho BMW Race Dates (provisional)

At last we have dates.
Although provisional, they look reasonably secure when viewed with other series.

Monday 12th April Silverstone
Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May Pembrey (Double Header)
Sunday 30th and Monday 31st May Snetterton (one 45 minute race)
Sunday 27th June Mallory Park
Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th July Croix (Double Header)
Saturday 24th July Oulton Park
Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th August Brands Hatch
Sunday 29th and Monday 30th August Donington Park
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September Croft (one 45 minute race)
Sunday 10th October Thruxton

Do hope to see you chaps and chapesses at some of them - if only to catch the Sad Gits!

I'm impressed that you have dates which you reckon are 'reasonably secure'. Every other set of dates I look at still seem to have conflicts with others. Planning this years trips looks like being more challenging than usual.

Yes excellent. Maybe we can lean on the BARC to implement the driving standards we both want?
I think that Garry wanted less days and more double headers whereas most of our guys enjoy more circuits. Delighted that we get another go at Croix. It was a great weekend in 2002. Bloody sight closer for us darn sarth than Pembrey too! Disappointed to have no Cadwell for a second year. (A personal favourite.)

The reason for my optimism is that we rarely get anything from Dale until he is pretty certain that there will not be any changes. Not sure what 'our package' is this year, but it seems though we are with Bob's brigade and probably the Westfields. Think that the Ginettas have moved to the GT package, F Saloons are only on the same bill for the first and last meetings and I've heard nothing about the TVR's, so presumably some new faces.
We have an invitation class for the SELOC BMW guys, so hopefully we will be able to field full grids everywhere this year. Look forward to seeing you.

TVR's i believe are with the GTs all year to go with the introduction of a new car, if I understood Autosport's report properly.

Your dates are in the database, so I'll definitely be along a couple of times.

Ian is correct re the Tasmins, but I believe that they are opening up their series to any TVR this year which should give them bigger grids and no doubt more scrutineering headaches.

Sadly we are not in the exalted circles of manufacturers series - yet

I've spoken with Claire today and she ran through the meetings telling me who we were with, which bar France and Mallory is the same as you. On a number of occassions we are with some Classic formulas, Rockingham for one instance. On a couple of occasions we are with Formula Woman ( make what you like out of that)Pembrey springs to mind. On most occasions it is much the same as last year but with less of FS.

That's good news. Pity we are not doing Rockingham, but can't grumble (except for the haul to Croft which I shall probably grumble about for the whole journey.)
I guess that Formula Woman will attract some press interest, so maybe we should all do Pembrey in drag?

Has any drivers signed for this BMW thing? I heard that Carlin have 2 portugese drivers from a driver development programme, but what about other teams? And what teams are they?

Johnw is talking about the Kumho BMW Saloon series, I think you're referring to Formula BMW! (The question is probably best asked in the Single Seaters Forum!)

Who will be supporting Formula Saloons instead of the usual BMW's, Ginetta, F Renault etc.

I understand that we will be with Euroboss a couple of times, any other ideas ?.

BARC Renault are only with Formula Saloons at 5 events, Silverstone, Brands, Donnington and Thruxton. Dale Wells has probably got fed up with us fighting over top dog slot and, like a pair of bad boys, sent us in opposite direction.

As far as I know they have been issued to drivers reps who, probably on pain of death have leaked them to drivers.
