We already had the Mini Countryman.

I wouldn't mind seeing the 2008, C3 Aircross and Kona.

Ken block will return to the WRC for the Catalunya rally:

http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/apri-...3--12-12-.html

It'll be interesting to see how he gets on with the new generation of cars. I don't expect anything much in terms of results (he's never really shone in the WRC) but it's good to have him involved purely from a publicity point of view.

Yeah, he is sure to bring more attention to the current crop of WRCars, which I would say is a good thing. Not sure if his particular car will make it to the end of the rally though...

Now the Kodiaq is too big for WRC. It would better fit the Dakar and FIA Cross-Country.

Agreed - the lack of testing before the event isn't going to help his chances either.

Definitely - it's not a WRC type of vehicle - the Fabia is much more suitable.

He's a question regarding Ken Block. Just how much attention is he going to bring the WRC? I actually think it's overblown, simply because he has massive views of his Gymkhanas - however, that doesn't translate to people following the WRC.

I can't recall seeing his name trending on social media when it was announced he would have some WRC outings.

The way some people go on about him, you'd think he was an Alonso or Rossi.....

I daresay the vast majority of followers of Alonso will already be F1 fans and Rossi will be MotoGP fans, but in the case of Block, I think he has a wider audience than just rally.

Look at some of the recent posts Block has made about his "new" EscCos: a lot of comments are from people who have never heard of the car before, but I don't think there is a true rally fan out there who doesn't immediately recognize the Cossie. With that in mind Block could be showing the current crop of WRCars to a wider audience who are yet to see them.

Block seems to be the marmite of motorsport. As I have said numerous times I think his marketing is both his biggest strength and weakness. Are spectator numbers likely to radically increase because of Block? Probably not, but it may turn a few more eyes to the WRC.

He is just a marketing man who can drive a bit.

You cannot argue with what he has achieved, but he is not really a talent at anything other than coming up with good marketing ideas, hence the Gymkhana YouTube stuff,

But, you cant spend all year doing that and he has a raft of sponsors to keep happy, hence he will try anything that gives them exposure.

But if you read the article it said it would be a new Class Championship only for SUVs...

Here I will quote it for you:
Quote:
"In addition to the successful Fabia R5 in the WRC 2 category, it also will compete in the newly-created WRC SUV category.

The category was established by the championship promoter to answer the ever-increasing popularity of SUVs. Starting from the next racing season, a new class of racing vehicles Ė WRC SUV Ė will compete alongside the current WRC and WRC 2 categories. It is reserved exclusively for vehicles derived from production SUV models."
The thing is this quite say it is a deal done but I can't find any information other than this...

As you say he's great at promoting himself - as a result he's also got enough cash to go and play in the WRC so why not? I think he's well aware of his limitations and the fact that he's never going to be a top rally driver - he just enjoys it and can afford to compete at the top level. There are worse ways to spend your money!

Monster aren't interested in Block going rallying, they are putting their money towards Gymkhana Grid, Gymkhana 10 and the new Amazon series.

Block mentions it in the recent video about his EscCos:
