oh, and the first pic of page 5 of your blog, how much were you guys dribbling over the RS500 in the same garage as you?
Cheers chaps It does feel great finally see it go round track and we were all very excited after its first lap.

You mean this thing of beauty?

I was definatley drooling over it. I am an RS nut having grown up with them my whole life and now owning a Focus RS myself. If I heard correctly it was the first time out for that with its new owner.

That is the colour scheme he is running at Oulton Park, basically a Vauxhall livery without the badges.

it'd probably be a wild stab in the dark to assume the paint job when done will involve pink...

Hmm... not impressed. Hopefully it will look better in the flesh after they've added all the small associate sponsor decals.

Evening all,

Thanks again for the support and glad you like the Golfs new look.

Here is a short video of the car on its maiden lap! Shaun is only taking it very easy as it is the very first lap and then the car under took and then he came back in the pits for a once over.

Do you mean technically, or if the sporting regulations have any kind of compensation for running older cars (like Wiechers have -10kg in WTCC)?

Technically the cars are identical in the body with rollcage etc., the rest (subframe, suspension etc.) can be upgraded to any spec you want (or what your wallet allows you to ). I've been thinking a bit on this. If you would like to race a BMW i STCC's Semcon Cup, you could buy a spare chassi from 2007 and fully upgrade it to latest (or at least later) spec and go that way around the rules. If you use a sequential gearbox you get a national homologation and can run a car with chassis from 2008. But these independent cup rules don't apply in BTCC as far as I know, since the BTCC independents category (WSR, Motorbase etc.) has no limits for a car's age. The BTCC regulations are hiding a lot of interesting facts and figures.

If you mean the sporting regulations for running an older car, I'm sorry I don't have enough detailed knowledge about BTCC's regulations to answer your question. If TOCA goes according to the FIA regulations like Denmark and other national series, cars like the Lacetti should get a lowered base weight by 10kg, as well as older spec E90's (don't know what counts as "older" in this case).

Speaking of BMW's, the 1st gear ratio, diff ratio and drop gear ratio has been decided (probably since way back in time). I'm interested to hear what the BMW teams thinks about it after testing as those ratios are figures and doesn't say me anything. Sadly you can't get away with running H-boxes, as they get a weight handicap. But I can't find any info on how much extra weight that will be added?

Thanks for the long post.

No, I was specifically meaning "speed over 1 lap". I guess Mark is correct though, the chassis would have taken two years worth of bumps and knocks...

Anyone know the age of the WSR, Motorbase and Forster BMWs?

Forster BMW's are the ex Mat Jackson cars from 2007 & 2008, which if I recall were ex Priaulx WTCC cars from 2006 & 2007 respectively. Now, something tells me that when Jackson got these cars to run in those seasons they were upgraded to latest spec prior to delivery?

WSR built their 320's in kit form from BMW Motorsport I think. First seen in 2007, I assume these have been constantly updated and believe they are somewhat different spec to works BMW's, different suspension for example. 3rd car was first raced last year but don't know if it had any testing mileage beforehand.

Motorbase I don't remember where they got their's from. Ex Schnitzer WTCC perhaps?

On another note, I see rumours are now linking Gordon Shedden with a Dynamics return this year, apparently he was at Oulton this week when the team were testing.

As far as I know

WSRs are 2007 new builds uprated to 2010 spec
Motorbases are 2007 Schnitzer cars uprated to 2010 spec
Forsters are Andy Priaulx's 2006 & 2007 championship winning cars
