You need Christian Eicke (sp?) to answer this... or Hans Etzrodtl would be a help... or fines.

I also have the book of Richard von Frankenberg, in fact the French version first published in 1968 (the original version was from 1965). My version was published in the Marabout Service Collection, pocket price and cheap. The name of the book is, in French "Nürburgring, le circuit aux 170 virages" and in German simply "Der Nürburgring".

The preface was written by Stirling Moss. In the last page, just before the table of contents, there are the sources of the pictures and surprise one is credited Hans Etzrodt !!

A very good book about the Ring is:

HEEL Verlag GmbH
Gut Pottscheidt
D-53639 Königswinter
Tel 02223-9230-0
Fax 02223-9230-26

It contains a complete history of the track and many great photos.
Forewords by Tony Brooks, Cliff Allison, Paul Frere, Hans Herrmann, Hans Heyer, Klaus Ludwig, Clay Regazzoni, Roy Salvadori, Marc Surer and John Surtees.
