Personally, IMO JPM was the better driver on the day. He took a gamble with a different fuel strategy and almost made it work. Had it not been for his engine blowing up, he may have passed TGF easily if TGF was in trouble. But we were certainly robbed of a great finish between the two best racers on the grid.

However, the WDC was decided in Australia when the F2001 was still faster than all the new cars.

Sad but true. He has never looked better and no other team is close to Ferrari yet. I had thought that in the heat, the Michelins coupled with that great lump in the Williams would have proved to be the winning ticket.

With regard to Montoya's "chop", from the perspective of the first turn, with the cars coming right at us, it looked as though JPM was taking a forceful but fair defensive line for the first turn. I haven't seen the replay yet and may have to wait a week, but it didn't seem to compare with some of Michael's past moves.

That was by no means a chop from JPM. He simply made a better start and moved across onto the racing line.

For it to be graded "chop" it has to be committed by The German!

It always looks pretty hairy from front-on, but the in-car usually reveals something not nearly as dangerous.

Happy to say that all the time JPM keeps MSch off of P1 this subject will not come up!
