Cryptic Quiz

A quick cryptic BTCC quiz I've thrown together. No prizes and apologies in advance for any errors there might be!

The questions get progressively harder (generally):

Provide the explanation for the following:

1. DPBHSTOPCKDPSBH
2. MN&GS@TD2010
3. GBGBDEITGBDECHSEFRCH
4. DE@T&JP@BH(TW)
5. FG-C@TW300P
6. DLPKJPAMTKTKJPJPYMJT
7. VACP4CAR1LI2MZ
8. F1NZ1B1M1SA1I4T1SU1N1U1SW1
9. AMODTE100%CBR2000
10. 1,123

They all have something directly related to the BTCC modern era (1991-present). The last few I think are really difficult so I'll be very impressed if anyone gets them. No prizes and it's a team effort, so all answers posted in the thread.

I'm guessing #9 is Alan Morrison Only Driver To Enter 100% Class B Races 2000.

I've checked online and a couple of others (James Kaye and Mark Lemmer) entered all Class B races in '00 so I've probably got a word or two wrong in my answer.

You are correct, that's what it stood for. You are also correct that it's not quite accurate. I've been caught out by the fact Kaye and Lemmer entered some rounds in different cars. Apologies for that.

If you add up every drivers number it adds up to 1,123

The winners at every night race in BTCC history. They were all at Snetterton or Silverstone between 1999 and 2001.

I could be way off the mark and it takes some working out the only thing i can think off it some convoluting way

I was looking at VAC for some reason Vauxhall Astra came into my head

2001 BTC spec touring cars

VAC- Vauxhall Astra Coupe
P4C - Peugeot 406 Coupe
AR1 - Alfa Romeo 147
LI2 - Lexus IS 200
MZ - MG ZS

It sort of makes sense

Spot on. It's the first 5 BTC-Touring spec cars in the order they first ran.

Throwing ideas out looking at this looking at NZ only think i can think of is New Zealand and then SA would be South Africa

Is it something to do with nationalities

If we ignore the production class since 2001 we have had

F1 - 1 French driver - Muller
NZ1 - 1 New Zealand Driver - Slight#
B1 - 1 Brazilian Driver - Erdos
M1 - 1 malaysian driver - Hairuman
SA1 - 1 South African driver - Watson Smith

The last half gets me cos

I4 we have had drivers from Italy and Ireland but only 1 in the list
SU1 - Switzerland maybe, SUI is an abbrevation for Switzerland and we have had Menu

N1 - Netherlands with Coronel
U1 - United States - Holland
SW1 - Sweden Strandberg a couple of years back

Could be wide of the mark

I'm wondering the same thing, and seeing your workings I think it's every non-UK driver to race since 2001

I reckon,

For I4 - since 2001 there has been 1 Italian (Giovanardi) and 3 Irish (Gavin Smith, Eoin Murray, and Aron Taylor-Smith) which could explain the 4

T1 - Erkut Kizilirmak from Turkey (or Turkiye as its now called)
