He probably means that he's doing the spotter's guide poster for the series that you can buy at the merch trailers. The 07 one was great, last year's was just a bunch of random photos and looked pretty crummy. Andy's will no doubt look fantastic!

Looks like Primetime have finally decided to add a 3rd driver for the endurance races as they mentioned before. Ritchie Holt.
Is the Falken car going to actually appear anytime soon or what? |

Just caught up with that myself. Great-sounding lineup (I called Johannes back when the first hint was dropped!) and on competitive rubber you have to believe both cars will be in the mix this weekend. Hope they can continue to field 2 cars for the season with strong lineups.

IMSA's entry list has Pastorelli teaming with the Stucks, and Arnold in the Westbrook/Basseng #5.

If true, fantastic lineup in the lead car. Basseng and Westbrook are known quantities to most, and Arnold has been very strong over the years in Cup and GT3 cars, including his Porsche Junior Team experience. Vici turned some decent times on Michelins in their '08 car in testing, too, so the car should match up to the drivers.

I may have missed something, but why is there no Tafel Ferrari this year?

Yes, you definitely missed a lot. Jim Tafel has pulled out of racing completely. The physical team architecture under Tony Dowe remains and while they continue to try and find funding for a programme, that has not occurred to date.

Given that the fastest time at the wheels down winter testing was in the 1:44s by the #66 Acura and the fastest time set at the 08 test day was a 1:42.8 the big question is what time can we expect from the #8 Peugeot in the coming week? I am sure the 908 has been heavily revises to suit the 09 regs with there new 2009 cars but they are only an evolution at best. This is one hell of a way to start a season!

Honestly, I have serious doubts that times will be that low (around 1:40) with the new regs... I mean, remember what ACO claimed to be the times target for this year: getting the Le Mans lap back to around 3:30 (with the new, significantly faster Tetre Rouge, that is). Cars will almost surely be slower than last year. 2008 was the big year in terms of statistics If the Acura did 1:44, I suppose Audi and Peugeot won't go under 1:42 either (of course, this is testing-pace, but anyhow). The ultra-mighty 908 of last year did a 1:42 lap at Sebring (true, it would have surely gone faster than that in qualifying, if the session wouldn't have been stopped) so I'd be surprised to see this year's cars better that.

I don't think the new cars will be much more than 1 second slower this year, so a pole of 1.43, possibly 1.42 if you assume the 908 could have managed a 1.41 in qualifying last year.
At Le Mans the diesel power cut could knock those cars back 4 seconds, another 2 seconds for the aero change, so 3.24-3.25 pole, which is within the ACO's acceptable 'qualifying' pace range. PS, Peugeot for the Sebring win by 5 laps. |
