Is the Tommy Milner on the #92 the guy that ran PTG or is it his son?

Sr. still runs the PTG program (as in manager), Jr. drives the BMW.

Welcome. Sr. had a funny interview during Sebring where he mentioned how much he "hates" race drivers.

As in owner. And "Jr." is not a "Jr." Different middle initial.

Tom has always done the "If I could race without drivers I would," shtick. It was part of a 2001 interview I did for a name predicessor of Daily Sports Car. At the time he was employing Stuck, Auberlen, Boris Said, and Nic Jonsson.

A 15-year-old "turbotom" frequented various sportscar forums.

Speculation is it was politics, threatening IMSA with a lowered commitment and smaller field.

Are GT3s going to be at St. Pete? Will they be added to this entry?

Ummm, yeah, that's the reason for the quotation marks around the "Sr" and "Jr." Thanks, though, for clarifying titles.
So, as "owner" he'd still be "managing" the program, no? Again, thanks.

Ah, a fond memory of Speedsims and the SCGT days. To think I used to race (badly) against Tommy Milner and now he's in the cockpit of a works BMW GT2 and I'm sitting doing statistics!

................and similar numbers in FIA GT, Open GT.

17 cars would barely justify holding a race, I find it difficult to put this down soley to the economy.

Is there not something else going on behind the scenes, incentives to compete elsewere, boycotts, whatever, afterall this is a major, established, series that covers all of North America.

Yeah, there's a 43 car field racing almost every weekend sucking up ALOT of sponsors and tv time. It sucks but even those guys are having a hard time getting cars for the full season.

NASCAR and the economy are the major issues, but the series is not attracting wealthy privateers and enthusiasts.

If this new GT3 class, especially if broadened beyond Porsche, doesn't generate significant interest during the second half of the season, we'll know the format/schedule is at fault, as GT3's are raced in huge numbers around the world.

10-15 GT3's must be the target for 2010.

Anyone know why Corvette Racing is skipping St. Pete? I was looking forward to going to the race this weekend but there aren't even going to be any cars there not sure if I even want to go now.

They aren't going, as they planned on not being there and announced such at the start of the year.

Of course, GT3 teams in the states might not have the extra funding to add races to their schedule.

Touche. I can't understand why one would think that just because GT3 has worked (to some level) in Europe and to a lesser degree in Brazil, it will automatically work in the US. Beyond that, coming up with the idea in late March and evaluating it mid-season just doesn't seem sensible to me.

I'm surprised that without Corvette Racing in GT1 no has stepped up to take GT1 honours, all they have to do is finish! Bell, Konrad where are you?

The ALMS has said all possible entries will be evaluated and judged as to their worthiness as a race team. Bell or Konrad may be automatics in the eyes of the ALMS but do they have any programs running now or cars? Did they "lease" a collectors car to give it race provenance or did they own them outright?
