The bigger question is, who will replace him at Tickford?? Could be a career-killing move to take the seat based on current and recent form??

Given the slender budget of the last few years. It will require a big step up.

In seriousness. DJRTP have made it clear that they have no interest in customer cars (just ask MSR). Only way to get one of their Mustangs, is at the end of its DJRTP racing life.

Neither Tickford or DJR seem to have shining experiences for customer cars, with the exception of 23RED.

So I am just mystified as to why anybody would go for the Mustang over 888, who absolutely have form for successful customer cars - Charlie knows this well!

The customer deal FPR (when still owned by Prodrive) had with Rod Nash Racing seemed to work ok, Paul Dumbbell and David Reynolds were competitive on occasions with the main cars.

Most likely, if he is to remain at Tickford he will probably have to take a haircut. His last deal was signed after he won the championship and was clearly the team's #1 driver, so he would have been able to attract money comparable with that of Lowndes, Whincup et al. But since then his stocks have fallen.

Might be a case of need over want. T18 needs better commercial backing and being 1 (or 2?) of 8ish desirable Mustangs on the grid. Might be easier to sell to a sponsor.
Verses no. 15 of 15 Commodores that Holden can't sell.

Seems a very long bow to draw. Maybe PRA selling things cheaper than 888, not like they haven't done it before

Converting the 2 oldest FGs in the fleet to Mustang bodies may not be that expensive...

Doesn't the current T18 chassis date back to 2013ish? Any upgrade is better than no upgrade....

The current #18 chassis replaced the Xbox/prototype that was written off at HV a couple of years ago.

It was new at the time.

Could Charlie have done a contra deal for Forklifts and leveraged a Ford deal? I can't imagine 18 on the GT4 car is a coincidence but maybe it just is.

A lot of coincidences about the place, it seems.

A bit of a lottery as to how it will all shake out.

Some chat suggests that Mr Winterbottom will need to look elsewhere to regain #1 status in the team

The story around town seems to suggest a Team18/Tekno combination for season 2019, with Mr Burgess at the helm.

Bringing along the Tekno ZB, voila, here comes a 2 car team.

Allegedly owned/operated by Chasports. Allegedly.

Still no talk of sponsorship.

There is a new GM inside Metcash, and Bottle O sponsorship looks difficult/unlikely in light of the horrendous trading performance of the parent lately...
