the politics of the mighty dollar - always have someone on the outside willing to pay to come in, someone on the skids - come on Falc its the same tactic used in Vic, WA but perhaps Q is a little closer to home.

Latest word from AVESCO is that speculation on both a Townsville street race and the loss of QR is "premature". Cochrane says that with Townsville as far away from Brisbane as Melbourne is from Brisbane there is every chance of three Qld rounds. If Townsville actually eventuates.

Ever think that maybe Townsville might be at the expensive of Oran Park, not Willowbank ?

It seems like such a waste of time building the track not that long ago.

I'd personally like to see them return to Lakeside.

Cochrane says NO to Townsville done deal, replacing QR (AA cover), Ingall says NO to Triple 8 rumours (AA again). That's it. Bye bye AA - too much b******* too often. Try facts. Ill rely on MN from now on

One would hope that the circuit in the Sydney area which fills up each year would get preference over the other venue in the Sydney area which has failed to pull a crowd for an AVESCO event twice in 2 months..........

Ingall denies Stone split

By RAY KERSHLER Motorsport Writer

July 22, 2005

RUSSELL Ingall, who leads with his lips more often than most drivers, has flatly denied he wants to quit the Stone Brothers camp to defect – back to Holden.

Ingall has slammed the rumour and innuendo in the V8 pits which had him both moving to Ford's Triple Eight team with Craig Lowndes or leaving Ford altogether.

Stories to that effect took on a life of their own after Ingall left his options open in a recent magazine interview.

Currently third in the championship behind his team mate and defending champion Marcos Ambrose, Ingall's contract with his Stone Brothers team expires at the end of this season. With Ambrose leaving the sport to race in America, Ingall says he has set himself the goal of grabbing the No. 1 spot at Stone Brothers. "I have not re-signed with Stone Brothers as yet but we are confident of finalising an agreement in the next couple of weeks," Ingall said.

"I am a contracted Ford driver until the end of 2007 and I want to remain with the best Ford team which is Stone Brothers. I want to take the No. 1 off Marcos's door and race with it in 2006."

Ingall caused quite a stir when he left the Larry Perkins Holden team at the end of the 2002 season becoming only the second high profile driver after Craig Lowdnes to defect from Holden to Ford.

While Ingall may have cleared the air, uncertainty still surrounds Holden's Todd Kelly who is chasing a hat-trick of wins at this weekend's Queensland round.

At one stage this season Kelly was being lined up to replace Ambrose at Stone Brothers but two recent round wins in Shanghai and Darwin seem to have cemented his relationship at Mark Skaife's Holden Racing Team.

Kelly will hold talks with Holden after the weekend.

I hope you are right. I have heard the rumour mill working overtime in recent weeks saying the Perich family intend having a similar in layout track at Wilton operational in time for 2008 to co-incide with the closing of the wonderful Oran Park circuit.

Wishful thinking maybe, but i hope it's true...

We have to have a circuit with a figure 8, it just mixes it up a bit too....

With newer facilities.....
