Mallala Prequalifying

Hi guys
Anyone know if they are going to charge to get into the pq at Mallala? I have my ticket for the 500 but I have heard it will be free and have also heard it will be $15 to get in, in which case i definetly wont be going.

hi ..welcome to ten tenths ..yes I believe they are charging $15 to get in for pre qualifying which I would have thought was pretty good value considering the calibre of drivers that will be attending.

I think if you have already paid for a ticket it should be free but it isn't. $15 is what you have to cough up to go on Wed, practice starts at 12.30pm and qualifing starts at 3pm.

Thats $140 for a grandstand seat for 3 days at the start of Brabham Straight, still cheaper than le mans adelaide though.

I don't know though still, $15 just to watch pre qualifying, just seems another AVESCO money making scheme.

But it's just a qualifying session.... in the middle of the week.... for $10 on many Sunday's throughout the year you can watch a full days state level racing. But then again, Lowndsey and Brighty aren't there, so nobody ever goes

How can they hold a race meeting at two separate locations.
Or have they classified it as two meetings/events to get around this.If so isn't their a rule about holding meetings for the same class in the same state in the same week.

I haave some questions?

1. Does every one who gets through prequalifying get a run or do they whittle the numbers down further in qualifying?

2. How many places are up for grabs in prequalifying?

3. How many name drivers are entered for prequalifying?

4. When big names start missing the cut regularly are AVESCO going to sort this bloody mess out and have some rules that aren't just plain ridiculous?

yes all the cars that prequalify start the race. They then qualify at the 500 track. Unless of course they do not make the 105%.

2. How many places are up for grabs in prequalifying?
36 grid capacity so that would make 11.

3. How many name drivers are entered for prequalifying?
Lowndes, Longhurst, Noske, Kelly, Mcdougall, Wills, Gardner, Crompton, Murphy, Bowe, Mclean, Mezera, 1 Hrt car driven by Skaife and 1 CPR car driven by Larry. (lets hope Larry reconsiders this)

4. When big names start missing the cut regularly are AVESCO going to sort this bloody mess out and have some rules that aren't just plain ridiculous?
Quote by TC "It is a 36 car grid and that is all that will be starting", that is if one of the 'name' drivers doesn't make prequalifing.
