They did relatively well in the ETCC in 2002 when they were supported by Volvo. 2003 as privateers didn't go as well, though.

It seems Volvo's weakness lies in the engine? It has pretty good power, but it seems to drop off as the race progresses? Is that indicative of cooling probs? I seem to recall the Volvos DNF a lot? And wasn't it b/c of the engine most of the time? Perhaps Volvo has overcome all these probs?

They're very strong in Sweden, and the third Volvo in the Danish TCC is good, there isn't any reason to go away.. However in the ETCC or BTCC they wouldn't be so good because the official (and even indipendent) concorrence is stronger in those championship...

i ask this because Volvo should come in the french supertouring championship in 2005 as we will probably use super 2000 in place of the silhouettes

This would be a good move for French (and European) touring car racing. If in France S2000 rules will be used it might convince Peugeot, Citroen and/or Renault to build a S2000 car.

Fingers crossed!

(Peugeot have a S2000 car - it can be seen following most of the other cars around Hockenheim on a TV near you in the hands of Jan Magnussen!)

If the dead DTCC was S2000 rules, then there were Mégane's once too (old a*se version)

I know the Danish Peugeot, but with respect to this entry it's not able to fight against the factory BMW's and Alfa's. Now we are talking about Peugeot. I remember a discussion on this forum about Peugeot's plans to build a S2000 car, see this topic.

Probably yes. But I think it were Clio's that raced in DTCC. Or am I wrong?
In DTCC the Clio's were able to beat the Carly BMW's. They raced in 1 or 2 ETCC events.
