Why Brock won Bathurst:
From www.crash.net
BROCK ANNOUNCED AS PROCAR DIRECTOR Ten-time Bathurst winner Peter Brock will be among four successful motorsport and business identities appointed to the board of directors of motor racing events company PROCAR Australia. PROCAR Chairman and founder Ross Palmer said today the new directors – Brock, Peter Boylan, Roy Leaver and Ian Palmer– would be officially elected at a board meeting in Brisbane on 5 February. Palmer said the directors would bring invaluable experience and expertise to PROCAR at a time of significant growth. “Over the coming season, PROCAR is aiming to develop new international events, progress our ground-breaking Formula Green environmental concept, boost our output of television programming and build on the successes of the Bathurst 24-Hour, PROCAR Champ Series and our four racing categories,” Palmer said. In tackling these projects the PROCAR board will be enhanced with directors of the highest calibre, who will contribute business acumen, added credibility and grass-roots perspectives as competitors.” The PROCAR Australia directors are – ROSS PALMER (Chairman) – Founder of US-listed Palmer Tube Mills and, later, PROCAR Australia. Internationally experienced racing driver in various cars. PETER BOYLAN – Managing Director of Sydney-based Quirk's Refrigeration, Australia's biggest privately-owned refrigeration company. Driver of a BMW M3 in the Australian GT Performance Championship. PETER BROCK – Principal of Team Brock running two Holden Monaros in the Australian Nations Cup Championship. Winner of record 10 Bathurst endurance races, including Bathurst 24-Hour. Multiple Australian Touring Car Champion. ROY LEAVER – Queensland property developer with Project and Land. Driver of Ford Falcon XR8 in Poolrite Equipment V8 BRutes Series. IAN PALMER – Queensland property developer with Naluky Homes Pty Ltd. Driver of Brabham Honda Judd V8 in Australian Nations Cup Championship. |

Old news...
And has nothing to do with why Brock/Murf/Bright/Kelly won Bathurst. |

Yeah?
it's a shame that sarcasm is had to detect by looking at a computer monitor... If i had known that brock was under consideration for the procar board last november, i'd be feling mighty suss about it. Its like a bad movie: Brock wins tenth Bathurst, leaves v8s and then as accepted onto the procar board... what next, brock and son combine to win record 11th bathurst? please. and is there any chance that there might be a conflict of intest with active team owners/racers on the board? |

Actually Peter Brock has been working with PROCAR, and Ross Palmer for a long time to get some work completed in the UAE.
If you read the posts from Mr Palmer about the proposed 24hr races in Taupo NZ & the UAE for 2005, it is primarily as a result of P.Brock's assiatance in getting some previously shut doors to open. So the relationship has been there for some time, and is commercially advantageous for all concerned. I still struggle to believe that Garth Tander/Cameron McConville/Nathan Pretty/Steven Richards pulled up to let Brock win because of his relationship with Ross Palmer.... |

Mark Skaife is on the board of TEGA now, is the sole reason he won 5 series titles because he has joined that board?

I'm sure that in last years 24 hour all the other cars either slowed down or pulled out so the Monaro's could walk away with it so Procar could have Brock win Bathurst. Maybe certain people are jealous that Brock has decided to shun TC's circus & are just looking to stick the knife in to Procar in the hope that it won't survive. If Skaife or Larkham win the 1000 later this year will you come back & declare an inquiry because they are TEGA board members?

Let's just ditch these dumb conspiracy theories eh? And why shouldn't Brock turn to PROCAR? He was unhappy with the AVESCO thing, and clearly likes the way PROCAR is headed (as am I) |

Good looking board and should do well.
To suggest the race result was tainted I think maybe you are streching a long bow.Are you also suggesting the other wins at Bathurst are tainted as well? The Grumpy1 Last edited by grumpy1; 31 Jan 2004 at 11:01. |

I have never been a HUGE fan of Brocky but I do respect the guy and despite my outlandish way of thinking and my total hate of all things Holden - even I would not stoop low enough to suggest something so silly.

Far-out. I didn't expect this one to blow up.
It was all tongue in cheek. I knew that Boylan was on the board, but not Brock. I dont think that any (if present) team orders had anything to do with Procar and its staff/board. It was silly of me to write such furphillious (heh) tripe. Don't take my conspiracies seriously |

The reason brock won 10 bathurst was because he ran a brute on Saturday morning just in case the monaro failed...either way 10
