WRC in Mexico
I am a little concerned about the safety of the drivers in the Mexican Rally. The trucks and buggy's race in Mexico every year in the Baja 500 and Baja 1000.
These races have had an enormous problem with the locals setting booby traps on the course. They dig huge holes which are blind to the drivers and then stand by to watch the catastrophe happen. They cheer and celebrate when the truck goes flying end over end. Drivers have even been killed because of the booby traps. Further, if you think the British police are bad, just wait and watch Mexico. The Mexican police stand on the roadways and run radar. They stop the drivers and issue them speeding tickets and hold up the race. They have even stacked trucks up and made them wait until they finish writing the ticket. Also, in Mexico the police want you to give them bribes, or the ticket price is much higher. The police also have the option of arresting you instead of writing you a ticket. |

If its so bad then stop running there simple as that,
Clearly tthe positives outweigh the negatives. |

I can't see the FIA going there if it's that bad - they're on about dithching the GB round because of the police presence so I can't see them putting up with any grief. As for the spectators, there's been trouble with rocks thrown at cars on other events but nothing to the extent of digging a sodding great hole. I hope this all turns out to be false.

Doesn't bode well does it. Hopefully a false alarm.
