Well, when one thinks about it. RBRA could park the car for one event and Jamie could just potter around for the other and still win the championship.

What message does it send to sponsors & supporters though? And Ford?

When it gets hard, we give up

How truly odd...

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
jamie needs to finish an average of 18th in every race and he would still win the championship

he has only finished that low in two races this year and has not finished lower than 7th in the last 19 races

if he was to score no points at all in PI, he would only need to finish top 6 in each race to win in Sydney and that's assuming frosty wins every race (its been 14 races since frosty was on the podium)

The title chase is over for FPR, just go for race results now.

Actually the title was always going to go to T8, anyone who thought otherwise was deluding themselves.........probably the same in 2015 unless Penske/DJR can uncork something special.

The problem Tim has got is that he has been entirely candid.

For his reward he gets slayed for 'giving up'.

Perhaps you'd rather have the standard regurgitated it isn't over til it's over we'll take it to the wire crap

On perhaps your bias is showing

While there is still a mathematical chance to win the series, surely the team should be telling the world, publicly at least, that they are still working on being competitive and defeating the enemy...

While its not a fantastic idea to need your competitor to fail to achieve your series winning ambitions, the game aint over yet... no fat lady singing, no cups handed out, no championships being settled.

How about a boringly honest appraisal?

That they have had some poor rounds, but that they are still in the fight, that the team has a test day coming up, that they have some new things to try, that the squad is going to regroup and put all its efforts, from the pilots of all 4 cars in the stable, behind getting #5 in the highest position in the championship, and in the race meetings that they can.

What with the 3rd DJR car showing up in Homebush, does FPR really think there will be *any* focus on them if they have given up, and have conceded?

Maybe I am missing something..

Actually anyone could still win if a few points penalties are handed out at Phillip Island and Homebush.

Could V8 Supercars introduce double points for Homebush to keep the championship alive?

As long as it is only for teams whose names start with an R and B then anything is possible

This is why FPR cannot compete with T8, attitude. Dane would NEVER concede like this, why would you? What does that do for the morale of the employees? You fight to the end and if there is ever a sport where anything, even the most seemingly unlikely things could happen, it's motor racing.

Maybe they could introduce a "NASCAR Chase system" for the last couple of rounds

FPR should pay off a few backmarker teams to 'accidentally' stuff the #1 when it's lapping them.

Well they won Bathurst so they are just starting the wind down for the end of year break.

Not a great look I agree but they are just being honest and saying what everyone else already knows - They threw it away months ago and the title was lost before Sandown.

While not ideal, its hardly an outlandish statement to make.

There is a high chance by Saturday at PI that the title will indeed be over.

Remember Tander after Abu Dhabi 2010 or 2011 Round 1 saying his title hunt was over...

To be fair to Tander, the title hunt for him is generally over after the first race weekend anyway.

I read the article as more "we are going to do the most we can to get Chaz up so 2 cars finish in the top 5" (currently 6th) than "we are giving up on elevating Frosty". They can't slack off or they will lose 2nd.

Marcos WTF is a back marker
It's not about being realistic, its being downright defeatist. It's still possible, though very remote the Frosty could do it. I doubt it & hope not.

Doesn't send much of a message to the supporters & sponsors though.
Unless its Tim's attempt at mind games...........
