Being a Marshal
I answered the plea for Marshals on one of the other forums and I was directed here.
So at the start of the season I will be 16, I would like to know how I could get involved and what jobs I could do. |

Ok Reido, try reading this thread, and also try the marshals club website, http://marshals.co.uk
I hope this helps, and any questions you have we're more than happy to answer. I've been marshalling since I was 16 (14th season this year) and I can confirm its a brilliant way of being involved in Motorsport. |

Hi Reido,
If you want to start "on-the-bank", then try Speed Hillclimbing. This is NOT what most people think of as Hillclimbing, no mud involved!!!!! This is anything up to ex F1 cars running within 10 feet of you at anything up to 130mph!!!! Fancy it??? just drop me an email and I'll give you any info you require. p.s. my wife started 6yrs ago,(thinking she would spectate), and has done about 90 days a year since!!!!! you've been warned!!!!! it can be addictive!! ;-) |

Hello Reido,
If you want to be close to the teams and to see the machinery up close, you could start in the pit lane. I started 7 years ago, and have enjoyed every meeting i've done. What ever you decide to do, weclome to the ranks, and as has been said, its is seriously addictive Last edited by jase; 14 Feb 2002 at 21:26. |

Hello guys, and sorry for my poor english.I'm from Portugal, and
i'm a track marshall(ACDME Club)since 1984.Basically we work in Estoril circuit, but sometimes some of us must go "out".I´ve already been in Le Mans, Macau(F3), and Malaysia(F1).For beginners and those who are thinking to start with this crazy passion i just say:be very carfull out there, and take it very seriously, because i had some frightful moments. It´s nice to have a place like this to change ideias, so lets keep in touch. Best regards Delarmando |

Delarmando,
Let me also wish you a big welcome to Ten-Tenths and the Marshals Forum. It's great to have marshals from all over the world getting together in one place. I hope we are able to share many stories over the coming months and years! Stephen |

Hi Delarmando
I too am glad that you've joined and I look forward to hearing more about marshalling at Estoril, as I have never yet marshalled outside of Ireland. |

The good news is that I am supposed to visit Portugal on business later this year. I must check when there's a race meeting on and arrange my business trip around it hahaha

Hello again marshals:
I sent to Stephen dates of international races here in Estoril for 2002, so all you have to do, is rent a auto-caravan, and buy a road map. I´m sure that we can reserve the dangeroust marshall post just for you guys. Did you see last year on Eurosport the big acident with the Gulf Audi(LeMans Series) where 2 marshals suffered minor injuries?Yes, i was one of them and yes, that's the place that i'm thinking for you(aaahhahhh). |
