An unforced error is a mistake one makes without outside influence or by his opponents.
I didnt see the comments myslef but if he used that term, then sounds like he is taking ownership of his own mistake. A good thing no? |

Sounds like he’s separating a pure driving error from a daft silly press the wrong button.
As chill says it doesn’t sound like he’s blaming anyone else. |

There was a good piece on the Sky coverage explaining how it happened. From that, it can be seen why it was referred to as an 'unforced error', rather than a mistake.
In summary - the movement of his hand from clutch release to normal position means it passes over the button. In this motion, he inadvertently pressed the button. Unforced error - a design feature that made this a possibility. Mistake - a deliberate activation of the button by the driver. |

I heard they’ve put a cover over the switch now.
Did they say when Lewis realized it was on? Did he know as he’d set off for the first corner? |

Quote:
The shroud is only applied to Lewis's car because of how he operates the clutch, Bottas does not have the shroud. (maybe that 0.01 gram will make a difference?) (Lewis reaches over the wheel, Bottas around) |
