2010 Silly Season (merged x7)

Hopefully a list-free zone.

Sorry for the early thread I am just intrigued if are realistic chances for any new (non-pay?) drivers to go into V8 Supercars next season: Open wheel stars from New Zealand, Australia or abroad? Stars from the Fujitsu series with big high profile names? Aces from the local Formula Ford proving ground?

Could new non-pay drivers move into the second Tasman car? Maybe 2nd PCR? 2nd PMM? 3rd & 4th Kelly cars? ??? Are there are realistic chances?

I have a theory on the Tander to Ford thing... He didn't exactly deny it on V8Xtra the other day, and everyone keeps saying that there is no-way he'd do it unless it was for a ridiculas amount of cash - because he has everything he needs at HRT, it's where he's always wanted to be, his own engineer, race winning package blah blah blah... Tander also has a wife and a wish to be able to enter his Tandersport operation in the main game - Tandersport, who has been running a Ford in the Development Series...

I think it's possible Ford my be offering Tander a similar deal to what they offered Bright in 2005 -
FORD: "Come and drive #6 for a bucket load of coin"
TANDER: "I already get a bucket load of coin and a race winning package from Holden"
FORD: "Okay, how 'bout we also help you bring Tandersport and Leanne to the maingame by setting Tandersport up as a two-car sattilite operation to FPR"
TANDER: "Hmmm"

There's your 4 FPR cars everyone keeps talking about...

...will Tander be silly enough to repeat Brights mistakes

It might seem like a good idea at the time, but sooner or later Tander, like Bright will swap from the main team, to "his" team, Ford will cut them off and they'll be left to fend for themselves, it'll take 2-4 years for the money to dry up and Garth will be thinking... "Gee, shoulda stayed with Holden" - just like Bright

With the speed of #7 & #15, perhaps a sponsor might come onboard that would allow for a more expensive hot-shot to go into the #16 and have another car from that team up the front?

All this says it that they won't support another TEAM in 2010.......doesn't mean that one or the other or both of the existing TEAMS won't expand.....

FPR to a couple of more cars, Maybe CL stays, Garth comes over, Some off the lower Holden teams looking at swapping as Roland and Tom take the recipe and the cake + the icing to run the Holden super team.

Maybe some sponsors would prefer to run a Ford or Holden. Will we back to 28 or 30 car grids? Haven't got a crystal ball yet, but the enduro's might shed some light.

Nah I rekon you can leave CL and GT out of the equation. CL has signed with 888 for 3 years, and GT last week signed with HRT for another 2 years. Surely the team with the highest possibility of a switch (back) to Ford would have to be BJR. Times are tough and if they aren't in the mix for some Holden money for next season, and if there were to be an offer from FPR or SBR that looked attractive enough, then why wouldn't they? Whether or not Ford are willing to throw more cash in the kitty for either FPR/SBR should they expand to 4 cars is also unknown (to me anyway).

There isnt one of those, there is an RNR REC, which MeN is suggesting is looking for a new location in 2010.. given the previous relationship to FPR (the Besnard FPR car ran using this franchise in 2003) its not impossible that the REC and sponsor land with FPR...

with the amount of ex HRT staff at SGR, and the equipment being used at GMR, i doubt they will be moving anywhere. BJR may be another matter, but why would Ford want them specifically, especially as they have so very recently shown their instability. Can't see them moving so soon after going to the Red side recently and losing whatever parts/knowledge investment they have made.

So unless RNR move, i think the manufacturer silly season is done and dusted

BJR is not likely to move, their Holden deal is likely to be renewed, as there are 2 Holden-favourites currently in the drivers seats of the WOW & BOC cars...

Does this really need its own thread, or could it have gone in the 2010 silly season thread not more than 10 items down the list?
