Your first racing game u played??

What was the first ever motorsports game u played?

Mine was Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco over the SEGA Megadrive, does any1 ever remember that?

Way different compared to the latest F1 game out on the games market!

Out Run in the arcades I think... I also had Turbo OutRun on the C-64 and Pit-Stop II. PowerDrift was also an awesome game.

Out Run on the C64

There was an excellent F1 manager game on the Spectrum aswell that I used to play at my mates house well into the mid ninties. It was based on the 84 season it was triffic.

Does anyone know if there are any simulators of it available online?

The first Indycar Racing on the P.c was a classic aswell.

I remember that one. The unbridled joy of going the wrong way round the track, causing huge crashes and watching the replays. It was the first game I played where you could do that, (and let's face it we have all done it).

Before that I remember many 10 pences going in Pole Position at the arcade.

I can't remember the first racing game I played, it would have been in a games arcade. The first games I played on PC though would have been Indy 500 and Accolade GP. My mate brought them around on two 5 1/4 floppy disks after school one day and I was hooked! Then came F1GP.......

I think it was Pole Position on my uncle's Atari 2600.

The first racing game I really "got into" though was F-Zero on the SNES. Then followed Virtua Racing on the Mega Drive 32X, then came Sega Rally on the Saturn and GP2 on the PC.

Since then, I've also really enjoyed:
Sega Rally 2 (DC)
Rally Masters (PC)
Metropolis Street Racer (DC)
Ferrari Challenge (DC)
Daytona (DC)
F1GP3 (PC)
Project Gotham Racing (Xbox)
Rallisport Challenge (Xbox)

The first racing game I can really remember was probably F1GP (GP1). I was always Senna because it meant you qualified first in 2 player and could avoid all the traffic!!

I think it was Test Drive 1. Everything in that game was either red, yellow, blue or black. And there was a vertical drop on your left and a vertical wall on your right. I think there were 7 cars and I always had the Testarossa ofcourse.

I think I also had that indycar game. With a blue car, a red/white marlboro one (renamed McLaren by me) and a red one. I always had the red one and pretended it was a Ferrari.

My first motorsports game there were "Out Run" and "Hang On" on the game machines of the videogame stores.
The first motorsport game I played at home was "Hiper Rally" for Talent MSX.
My first motorsport PC game was Formula 1 of Accolade.

Pole Position on a PC back in '88... Then I got my hands on Accolade's Grand Prix. One of the first attempts at a sim.

Can't remember... I think it was Superkarts by Manic Media. I still play it from time to time . Then there were a couple of decent top-down games made by Qbasic amateurs, I'd play them for ages until I found an F1 game- GP1. I still play that too, isn't that sad? I'm in a newly formed online league for it and we're currently short of a few dozen wannabe F1 racers so please feel free to relive the nostalgia http://f1gprl.host.sk

As you might have guessed, I don't spend much of my money on computer games

Indycar 2 from Papyrus, there was a time I couldn't even do a lap without smashing the car! But that was a great game, and I really really wish someone would make a good Indy/Champ Car simulator... I know you can convert GP3, but it still acts like an F1 car on a full tank of gas...

The cars in GP1 handle like Rally cars because of a setup glitch on Monaco for example you can get about 1:14.x which is almost ten seconds faster than proper F1...Max Mosely would have a field day!

alesi95,

Have a look at this site for Spectrum stuff.

http://www.worldofspectrum.org/

I too remember the old racing games on the Spectrum, like WEC Le Mans, Nigel Mansells Grand Prix, Outrun, Turbo Esprit, etc. Looking at some of the responses I am starting to feel old.
