JP employing John Webb
According to Muttering Gnus, Motorsport Vision has taken on John Webb, the former marketing wizard behind Brands Hatch (before Nicola destroyed it allegedly).
Hark, what's that, John's thinking up some ideas... exciting championships to stir the loins of the honest spectator (yes, that's him, THE spectator (which doesn't include all of the hangers-on who have gone to the circuit to help/watch their mate race)). I feel rumbling V8's coming on again, F5000, and the abolition of Formula Drone with it's 4 car grids. Echo's the editor's comment in the same publication today (17/3) quality, not quantity. Rob. |

If so Rob, this is very enlightened.
Not seen MN. John Webb used to run the whole of Brands for Grovewood Securities. Halcyon days of great racing, big crowds for clubbies and the occasional lunatic day for the Sun Fun days. Thought that John Webb had gone of to South Africa to retire, so wonder what might bring him back? |

John lives in Spain according to MN. And has been asked to help MSV to revitalise the whole shooting match.
Now there's an idea. A clay pigeon shooting competition at each race meeting. That should add to the noise and the fun. Though Jackie Stewart isn't allowed to play unless he shoots from the hip with a blindfold on. When you think of the things that John created in his 30 years running it. Formula Ford. Thundersaloons. Formula First. All were successes, with only FF still going, in various forms, probably because it became the big national feeder for F3. I still remember Don Truman's words at his briefings... "And Formula Ford - Don't do it today!" Rob. |
