For 2017, what do we think Honda should run, assuming they enter?

The current Type-R will be on sale next year, so they could continue with that.
OR there's an all-new regular Civic launching in a matter of days.

Which will Honda UK decide to promote? The new Civic won't have a Type-R variant until 2018-ish but it would be nice to see another new shape in the BTCC.

Just interested to see which we would prefer?

A quick look there will tell you why they use the Civic, and will only use a Civic or varient of for the forseeable future.

I'd have guessed it'll be a new-shape Civic. That's what Swindon wants to shift.

any chance that Mr. Gow will slap BMR for their PR c*** and force them to mount their engine much higher in the engine bay next year?

indeed

The scooby engines are mounted in relatively the same place as the other teams. The only difference being the boxer engine is a very low engine in height. So it looks low mounted... when in effect it isn't. The crank/bell housing is no lower than the other RWD cars on the grid. Other wise the gearbox and prop-shaft wouldn't align.

Your memory fails you or you maybe are unaware of the facts.

The Tourer was Team Dynamics idea, Matt Neal spoke about it in an interview. The thinking was that it would keep Honda interested in the partnership, i.e. continue to provide cash/equipment (I have no idea on the actual details of the commercial arrangements between Dynamics and Honda). To say the car wasn't successful is to fail to take any notice of the results achieved, especially by Gordon Shedden. It was a lean season by Dynamics standards, but Dynamics were pretty much all conquering the previous seasons.

Type R the following season was an obvious choice - near identical product to the previously very successful hatch and of course a model Honda were looking to promote.

New shape Civic (only a matter of time - whether 2017 or 2018) has potential for RWD by following the BMR path - take a 4WD road car and convert to RWD as per the rules.

But as noted current Type R has plenty of life on the race track and in the showroom.

Don't forget that it's only an advantage to convert a 4WD car to RWD when the engine is longditudinal (like the Subaru and Audi for example). If the original car has a transverse engine (like the Civic & Focus for example) this cannot be changed...

In case any of you were/are interested a certain Mr Tarquini took a double win in the SuperTCC at Knockhill this weekend. A really lovely guy, and a very talented driver.

Poor John Cleland must've completed about one lap of the two races, whilst SOPR favourite Derek Palmer Jnr arrived at the track during the grid walk having spent all of last night replacing the engine on the ex Aiello Primera only for it to expire about 4 laps in. Cruel sport at times.

No love lost between Colin Noble Jnr and Stewart Whyte. The had a real ding-dong battle and I thought both were going to seriously damage their cars. I know they weren't speaking before race 2, but they certainly won't have been after it. Whyte also had his aerodisc sent flying during the tussle!

Darren Fielding took the title - so congratulations to him. Was great to see some truly great touring cars out on track again - God that Mondeo's V6 still sounds fantastic!

Feeling from the result of the 2016 championship that Torrdoff may be considering other options. Anyone else feel like if Sam was to leave WSR someone like Dan Cammish would be an ideal canidate for the drive

Cammish is obviously hugely talented but his single-seater chances are gone. BTCC (or Blancpain) is the obvious next step. Does he have any financial backing?

I wouldn't be shocked to see Sam head down the GT route. His drives this season were very GT-esque - if you get what I mean, and I think he could do pretty well.

Cammish and a return for Lloyd would be excellent additions to the grid.

Tordoff seemed very non-commital in his post race interview about his 2017 plans.

No idea about Turkington, id have thought they would be doing all they can to keep him, Turks is a quality driver.

I'm pretty sure Cammish has already got a drive at a different 3-car team for next year.
