Yes. And that is why he is judged as underperforming.
It is a complement in a way. |

Just a question!
How can you tell someone is underperforming in a car that has little relieabilty and is slow? Just because he did not blow away Scott does not mean he underperformed. The possibility exists that Speed is not as bad as he was slagged off to be in the first place. I mean, is Sutil underperforming? As opposed of course to asking if Sakon can perform at this level at all... |

You can tell quite easily when someone is performing well in a slow car.
Alonso in Minardi 2001. Staggering performances. Of course, he has achieved nothing since. Sutil is clearly driving excellently. Monaco practice and the Indy race being crystal clear examples. He has a future. Liuzzi. Yes, the car is not ideal. But he has a teammate to beat and he has not convinced in this regard. Scott Speed is about as useful in an F1 race as a chocolate blast furnace, so I find it odd that Liuzzi (who, don't forget, was deemed as the second coming, Jesus Christ himself by "those in the know") has made little impression on him. If any. |

Sutil at Spyker reminds me of Alonso at Minardi...the latter sometimes went off as well, but when he did last on the track it was quite often astounding for Minardi. Sutil isn't far off...
"magic in a milkfloat" is what I've always referred to Alonso in a Minardi! I think a lot of eyes and attention will be on the STRs next year - which will make a change I suppose!! |

No offense, but the staggering performances you mentioned, partly you have to thank Tarso Marques for being a really awful driver. That Jarno Trulli, and now Lewis Hamilton, could at some stage of their career over-shadow and out-perform Fernando in the same car... ... *run and hide* There was a time when JV...Jos not Jacques... was in an Arrows and get it into points, and Mark Webber who didn't do too badly with a Minardi either.. |

I don't believe that the rubbishness of Tarso Marques really had an efffect on things. I think it was more the fact that a Minardi was outqualifying on some occasions the Benettons, an Arrows, Prosts and even a BAR at Indy I think. This in a car using a Fiat 500 engine. My point remains the same, you can show class in a tail end car. |
